Had to stop talking to my brother about politics because he reads and believes all that conspiracy theory bullshit and we just get into heated arguments. It sucks.

 

My sisters, as far as I can tell, are all liberal, though I think only one actively keeps up with politics. The other two stay informed but aren't really into it.

But again I don't talk to them much about politics very often. They're exposed to my facebook posts, so they know what I think lol

 

I only really talk politics with my sister and then it's most often me sending her a text essentially saying "get a load of this shit from today" and then us both sighing heavily.

He votes Republican because they are good Christians.

 

I could not date anyone who is a self-proclaimed Republican. Love be damned. My ex was a liberal and we always got into arguments, because she seemed to believe in that individualist, "maybe the banker is a good person and therefore doesn't deserve death" bullshit. Also, she didn't want low-income housing in the neighborhood, which is completely fucked.

 

You need to out conspiracy theory him. If he gets concerned about you it'll affect his thinking.

I'm pretty sure she only identifies with it it because she grew up with Republican parents, because after so many years together I've thoroughly proven that 95% of her policy positions line up with that of a moderate liberal-to-liberal who couldn't possibly think the current Republican party has much to offer them in terms of ideas.

The big sticking points generally revolve around her father being a retired cop and her growing up in a bubble on long island. A lot of really bad takes on poverty and welfare and minorities have grown out of that base.

Her dad has turned into a FoxNews bot and her older sister, who's much more liberal than she is, thinks it's effected his mental health pretty badly.

Surprisingly, no. But lots of voting against their own interests ie they are uneducated poor white folk with a permanently disabled son who requires 24/7 at-home nurse care that they sure as hell aren't paying out of pocket. And they are in and out of jobs, so in and out of insurance. Poor kid is gonna die from not being able to afford his care and his parents still won't see it/will still blame Obama.
