    Yeah it's the worst.

Not to mention, how in the hell were Fall Out Boy, Thursday, Coheed, Silverstein and As Tall As Lions somehow one genre?

And for bonus points, it's actually a song with The Scene. What's good, Ian?

Where is @Tim when I need him? He'll remember the ap.net days when he and I were lone voices in the wilderness like "Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez are making good music!" while getting shit on relentlessly. Haha

Scene is simultaneously a word that means nothing, but that you just know when it's appropriate to use it. (I would use it mostly for warped tour/2000s era pop punk/Fall Out Boy umbrella, if I use the phrase "the scene"). But really "scene" is just a way to connect bands that are somehow related but don't necessarily fall in the same genre.

    This is true!

At one point, Tim, Kurt and I were the only 3 posting about TSwift, too (I think? Unless you were, too?) to the point where people were just a step shy of grabbing pitchforks when she had news about her posted.

The lesson here being: keep liking what you like, cause it will become cool and then uncool and then cool again a hundred times. Haha

I loved being one of the people responsible for turning the Taylor Swift thread into a place for music discussion instead of random pictures of her, lol.

And, yeah, loved making a Selena Gomez (and the Scene) thread after watching the "Naturally" music video on MySpace and getting lots of hate for it. We were totally ahead of the curve. I was just listening to some songs from her first album last night, which I remember that user Troggy repping pretty hard, too. Still a really solid pop album.

Do you still hate new Demi Lovato? I never listened to her latest one and cooled down on the one before, but I still really dig the first three (including that one that broke your heart).

I loved demi since my lil sis was watching the Disney channel and I heard her voice with her first album. Selena I used to like but I do not really anymore. I think her music has improved but it's never memorable for me. Miley I actually always liked until Bangerz. Taylor I've liked since her first album, but she annoys me so much that I go thru periods where I can't stand her and need a break

My fascinating take on a few popstars!

I've got a hot take for all of you inspired by my conversation in the thread for All Time Low's new album:
I think Dirty Work is one of their better albums (maybe my 2nd favorite after SWIW), and I really don't get why people dislike it so much.

Also, a little late on this, but in regards to Green Day's trilogy: I would not call it inspired or ambitious. I don't think it's uncommon at all for bands to have 30 plus recordings at a given time. Any one of them could decide to just release them all instead of making a handful work well. Green Day chose quantity over quality and it showe; that's not ambition.

Dirty Work is one of the least successful attempts at selling out I have ever seen. Awful songs, weak hooks, no substance. Only track that's worthwhile is the opener.

Selena is one of the best pop stars on the planet and her new album could catapult her straight to the top.

I talked about it in the ATL thread, but I'm somewhere between those two extremes on Dirty Work. A lot of the songs are good but the album as a whole doesn't quite work for me.
