@Deanna you'll enjoy this, when I was picking up my comics today the manager and the only other customer were talking about the Dark Tower trailer and I instantly joined and ended up being late for work because we got pretty in depth talking about the books, haha.

Elba looks like he is going to completely dominate the role.

Haha nice! I haven't read any Dark Tower stuff so we'll see what I get to before the movie. Elba is just such a good actor.

Just finished book 2 yesterday! Immediately dove right into Wastelands.

Just past the halfway mark in IT (800 pages!) and I find the adult stuff way better than the kid stuff. Very much unlike the TV movie.

I'm going to read IT and The Dark Tower series when I get home for summer. Theyve been huge blind spots in my King cred for far too long. Not sure if I should start with IT, finish with IT, or read IT at some point in between Dark Tower books as a break. Anyone have any suggestions one way or the other?

I got like 800 pages into It but once the semester picked up I just didn't have time to finish. I am going to go back and finish It before the movie comes out.

With summer beginning I just knocked out the first 2 books of the Dark Tower series. My recommendation is begin with the Dark Tower and save It for August so you can have it fresh in mind when watching the movie. At least that is what I'm going to do.

I've got Gwendy's Button Box coming Tuesday. I'd forgotten it was coming out so soon so the email was a nice surprise.

I got Gwendy's Button Box a day early. It's really good. A few fun Castle Rock connections and what I believe is a connection to Flagg, which in turn connects to the Dark Tower. It feels like Carrie for reasons that will be apparent when you read, with that sort of glimpse of a life throughout the years that we saw in Revival and Dr Sleep. Tonally maybe something like Joyland, but it's a "sweeter" story than most.

Tangentially related, but I just watched Horns and I'm wondering how the book compares. I imagine the story is told a lot better in the book. The movie's tone seemed a little unconfident and unsure at times. It still had some interesting beats though

The book is great, pitch black comedy. Way more background on the villain's motivations and them as kids.

Cool. I definitely felt like the villain needed more depth beyond what we were shown and told. It's interesting that the comedy is in the book though. I was thinking the confession scenes were played up for the film and would have been more grounded in the book. That's really neat actually

Loved the movie but have yet to read the book. My wife started it and said she didn't like how Hill wrote so she quit after a few chapters

I read NOS4A2 and loved his writing style, but that's from a few years later and, from what I've gathered, is totally different in tonally, so I can't say for sure

Only think I've read so far is Locke & Key so that's not a very good indication haha.

Definitely plan to at some point this year hopefully

Decided to go through The Stand comic series, read the first book today. It's not particularly impressive, and it's painfully pg-13 which is super annoying since the script is based off of King's words, lots of "Screw this!" But I am enjoying it simply because it's bringing the story back to me, very faithful so far.

I read the novel when I was fairly young. I don't think I really comprehended the way the government reacted.

It's gotten to the point where whenever someone replies to this thread I'm hoping it's a Gerald's Game update

I'm sorry : ( I'm dying for that too. Thankfully since it's Netflix, information and the release shouldn't be too far apart.

So did anyone notice the Pennywise easter egg in the Dark Tower trailer?

Also "However, one element that isn’t in the trailer is actually King’s favorite easter egg in the movie. While he was knowingly vague to avoid spoilers, he did give us this: “If viewers who are familiar with my work look very closely, they might see Cujo. Keep an eye out for Cujo in New York City.”
