I think that's the NBA though. You roll big with some big stars and if it doesn't work, you're fucked for at least 2 or 3 years. You try your best to make lemonade out of lemons by trading. Or you just run the team into the ground early in the playoffs every year till they leave and you have a ton of cap space and pray for a big FA to land in your lap.

I really haven't watched much this year. That's actually great to hear, it was getting hard to defend him last season.

 

You don't need a peak all-star player in return, you need assets. One of the rumored packages for Blake before the deadline was a Brooklyn pick, Crowder and Bradley and I think one other player. That would've been big for them.

 

Plus, they're in LA, and not completely awful like they were a decade ago. Worst case scenario, they'd never have too hard a time attracting decent free agents in a couple years if they didn't get exactly what they wanted now.

 

But what about the window for a ring? That package isn't going to make you compete for a championship, cp3 isn't getting any younger anytime soon. If they did that and didn't bring back a top guy he'd want out.

They could get quite a bit for either of them. The rumors for Blake for Bosh and Winslow earlier this year were probably too much, but that Clippers team would be fucking awesome.

 

Well, if you're not getting anywhere with your current core then you don't really have much of a window regardless. So if you have a player that isn't working for you and you can get an early lottery pick and some young, good players for him, you do it.

 

You're acting like the Clippers didn't win like 30 games without Blake lol, and that's without the solid players they'd get for him.

I mean personally I'd rather them keep everyone because they're all good dudes and they're fun to watch if you don't actively hate them. I have no emotional stakes in them winning a championship other than it'd be cool to go to the Finals at Staples.
