This is how you know Max Landis has never worked for a magazine before.

Or, more likely, incredibly boring. Not to mention how ludicrous it would be for a mainstream magazine to put a man on the cover that no one has ever heard of before.

I think the Undertaker is a pretty household name, I just go off the fact of everyone that I know in my life knows i'm a huge wrestling fan and they knock me for it but Undertaker is one of the few guys they actually know.

Would they read a complete retrospective on his career? Absolutely not.

The Undertaker is somewhat of a household name. Mark Calaway is not. That is who Max Landis wants to put on the cover of a magazine. Not The Undertaker, but Mark Calaway.

It's just a ridiculous idea for WWE to publish a retrospective on their most evergreen star's career via a medium/platform they don't own.

Yeah I just imagined it would say something like Mark Calaway, WWE's 'The Undertaker' on the cover.

Okay we've talked way too much about this.

Also this. Things are changing a little bit, but there's a reason why you're not seeing everyday coverage of WWE at a lot of places like GQ or wherever and that's because WWE has the resources to do these sort of in-depth stories themselves while controlling the narrative.

Oh Orton is a total dick and I'm not defending that at all, nor does Bubba deserve to be called out for that (especially if Orton and Bubba aren't buddies behind the scenes). Orton always gives off the vibes that he'd rather be a heel and when he's not given that opportunity on screen, it's enjoyable to an extent to see him do that in other outlets.

I do think it's unfair to blame Orton for the last two matches being bad since getting 10 minutes for a title match with random graphics, and then having a match built up as a unique feud finale ending by interference has nothing to do with his ability or workrate

The funniest part of that is that Landis clearly has never even read The New Yorker. Even if that idea was feasible, it would be the absolute last magazine to do it. Most of their covers don't even have humans on them and the ones that do are politicians

I actually just brought up Landis in another thread for something completely unrelated. lol

I meant to tag you in that reddit thread, but forgot your username @Mick

Yeah, to consider where the Undertaker (and WWE) truly matter within the media landscape, remember that Lebron shrugged him off when he tried to appear with a title belt before the start of this season. Hell, even John Cena barely rises to "magazine cover" level, and he does dozens and dozens of appearances outside the WWE

@Mick, does your stuff end up in the magazine too? Or is it usually online-only?

Yeah, that looks fantastic. I am still saddened that Gillian Jacobs couldn't sneak in there for a role and a mini reunion with Brie given she's a huge wrestling fan and lessimportantlymybiggestcelebritycrushofalltime.

It's just /u/mickrouse because I like to live life on the edge

Majority of it is online. I'm a contributor to GQ.com. I have been published a number of different times in the magazine itself, but not as frequently as online. Though the research and fact-checking I do at GQ is for the big stories in the magazine itself, like The Rock cover. And this is how I plug the latest episode of Foleyfield, where we brought my colleague, Caity Weaver, onto the show to discuss The Rock story (she wrote it, I fact-checked it).

This looks phenomenal and I'm so hyped for it. Really awesome to see Awesome Kong in it, too.

Bored at work and thinking about who wins MITB this year. Really feels like Owens and Corbin are the only real options. Maybe Jinder. I want AJ to win just so he can be announced as "The face that holds the case".

Also, when he retires, I need him to open a home renovation store. Call it AJ's Tiles: "The store that does your floors"

I feel pretty certain that Corbin's gonna win but there's still some time to go, gotta see how stuff like the US title scene shapes up in the next month.
