UGH! sounded so good on the stream

  4. Change of Heart and Somebody Else are such boring slow songs compared to Robbers. At least in a festival setting.

    "Chocolate" is the best

EDIT: Nevermind. "Sex" is the best. Damn. Definitely the highlight of their Coachella performance.

If "Sex" ever gets old for me, I am officially old and jaded and someone should take my iPod and CDs away from me

Was it just the pink screen the whole time?

Also only looked like they had the mirrors on the drum risers from their usual set-up

In what world are the new songs boring live?

  16. This world, haha. The ballads at least are sooo boring live. Especially in a daytime festival setting. During that Coachella stream, they played "Change of Heart" and "Somebody Else" back to back, and I completely lost interest. "Chocolate" and "Sex" were by far the highlights of their whole set.

The new songs really just don't do it for me, and it bums me out so much. Even "The Sound" is kind of irritating.

Just because they're mellow doesn't mean they're boring though. Is this also how people feel about Robbers and Menswear?

  18. No. "Robbers" has enough energy to make it interesting and exciting still, even though it's a slow song.

There's plenty of energy to Somebody Else and If I Believe You, if not more, and they're two of the most interesting and exciting songs they've written.

  20. I can't recall what song "If I Believe You" is, but I agree that "Somebody Else" is a good song. I'm really just talking about the Coachella performance in general. It was hard to sit through "Change of Heart" and "Somebody Else" back to back. And those were like the 3rd and 4th songs they played. If they were later in the set, it might not have felt so boring.

Watching them play "Heart Out", "Chocolate", and "Sex" just made me realize how much more I like the first album than the new one. "The Sound" and "Love Me" have nothing on those songs, in my opinion.

I disagree on Love Me and The Sound, but completely agree that a lot of the newer songs can be boring at times. They should close their set with Sex every single show, and it makes me very happy that they have come back to it as the closer after I saw Girls there around the album release time frame.

I think they should have swapped A Change Of Heart or Somebody Else for She's American, but I think Somebody Else resonates particularly well with the fanbase.

the earth is not a cold dead place.

What exactly makes a song boring, especially in the context of this album? Serious question, because I find literally nothing about this album boring. Even the slower ballads are filled with a ton of nuance and depth.

Just because you don't believe they translate as well to a live setting doesn't make them "boring".

Honestly change of heart sounds pretty lazy to me. Sounds like they wrote it in 30 seconds and just said fuck it.

  25. Agreed. In context with the album, they're fine. But in a live setting, especially during the daytime and at a festival, they came across as boring to me. I'm sure they're better with the full stage production and stuff, yadda yadda. I'm only talking about these songs in reference to yesterdays Coachella set.
