I saw TPIY open for Whitechapel last year and they were great. A headlining set would be fun.

My friend is having a wedding that next weekend in St Lucia so I already have to take a good chunk of the week off work so why not call it a full week and go on Parahoy? Am I right?! It's during my busy season at work though so I'm a little nervous about that

Awesome, never seen them headline so I'll probably be at the Montreal date. Hoping for a solid opener to get added though.

 

they have an opener, it's best coast
close to zero chance of anyone else joining the bill, they're almost always a direct support into headliner band

 

I know Best Coast is opening, thought maybe we would get another. But good point, they usually don't have a 3rd. Surprisingly, I've never heard of Best Coast, any recs?

 

i don't like them that much, something about them and wavves always rubbed me the wrong way. sort of hazy beach indie pop

 

Not into Wavves either so I'll check out Best Coast with very low expectations haha

I heard The Meatlocker closed down. Not sure if there's any truth to it but that venue is horrendous.

they had all the best DIY shows in that area though, even if it sucks it's still a hit for DIY

 

There's a lot of great places down in New Brunswick that aren't a cesspool like The Meatlocker was. Also, Boontunes in Boonton is a record store and venue. It's a little out of the way but at least they put on great shows. The Meatlocker won't be missed by us and shouldn't be missed by anyone in my personal opinion.

 

I ran a venue in New Brunswick till cops shut us down a month ago, and my band has played the meat locker. Both NB basements and the meat locker are amazing for DIY. Not so much for bigger stuff.

 

That sucks about your venue. There is a need for DIY venues in NJ but at least have said venue up to code. The Meatlocker was a million degrees in the summer, the sound was way too loud, headliners didn't go on until after 1am during the week and the entire venue had mysterious water dripping from the ceiling. The only "cool" thing about the venue was that it was underground so it had that secret feel to it. Idk why DIY has to have that raw feeling to it. A little more professionalism will go a long way.

 

it's difficult to afford professionalism when you're making at most a hundred bucks a show
