Note: I have not watched the trailer. Simply assuming that's what this is about based on the title. So there's a small chance I'm wrong.

 

Looks like Suspiria is getting a remake, with Thom Yorke doing the soundtrack. Best of luck to them trying to top horror perfection.

like. BEST CASE scenario it perfectly emulates the campy, nightmarish appeal of the film. in which case it will have to explain for the subpar story, because let's admit it the story is fuckin whack and we just don't have to worry as much about it because of the age and atmosphere of the film. in which case why repeat it??? let it stand as a cultural capsule in time. pay homage rather than remake wholesale.

The soundtrack to me is going to be the hardest part, it's arguably Goblin's best soundtrack and one of the greatest in the genre.

 

Suspira has been coming along for a while now. Tilda Swinton and Chloe Grace Moretz are in it. I'm looking forward to it, I think it can be well done. I'd like to see it swing way off, abandon the Giallo style. See if they can make the film their own without trying to recreate what made the original so unique.

 

I dunno. I don't want two Suspiria's. I love Thom Yorke's music but I don't know if it'll work.

I'm excited for the Suspria remake for several reasons. One -- Luca Guadagnino did it and the cast is pretty great.

And... nothing can take away from how amazing the original is so like, it doesn't matter if it sucks or not.

Can't wait to see what Yorke does with that score.

 

as good as some remakes are i'm so sick of them. like, just think of something original and new. (although i get that it's harder to get a new property accepted than something that's already made money - goddamn studios)

 

My argument is that some things need to be left alone. It's why I'm apprehensive about the new Alien movie for example, I'm excited as a fan but I have to ask if it's necessary. Now perhaps this'll be a good film and it'll surprise me, I'd be totally cool with that. However, the original is a work of art complete with its strengths and blemishes, it doesn't really need a remake in my honest opinion.

 

I'd much rather that team work together on something new and original than a repeat of the past.

 

The disheartening thing to realize though is that this team wouldn't be together if they weren't gathering over this already established property, ya know? Maybe after working on this Yorke and Guadignino will hit it off and create something original. One can hope

 

Fox renewed The Exorcist for Season 2. Cool, I liked that show.
