None that I can think of. They don't really slut shame or anything like some other pop punk from that era (I'm looking at you, New Found Glory).

Make Damn Sure by TBS might be the grossest song I've ever heard from that era. I didn't even realize it until I got older how bad it was.

Yeah I'm a pretty big TBS fan but they have quite a few songs that are just gross. Every Time I Die have that issue too but not as drastic. I think the worst of the bunch is Glassjaws first record

This might be an inappropriate/uncomfortable question but what ever happened to that woman that Ryan married? I definitely don't think they're together anymore, and I read some rumor that he married her so she could be treated in an American hospital after her accident. I doubt that's true but it's still kind of strange

Huh? I thought he was married to her way before that and he was so in love with her that after the accident he did everything he possibly could for her. Isn't Lift A Sail like, entirely about her?

Like I said I don't know much about the situation, I don't follow this band's personal lives that much. But I do know that Ryan lives in Nashville now with Josh Portman and hasn't posted a pic or even mentioned her in like over a year

I wouldn't put it past them to want to keep their private life just that, private. Wouldn't blame them for not wanting his paralyzed wife to constantly be in the spotlight. Who knows. I don't really follow their private lives that closely at all anyway. I just remember hearing about it all around Lift a Sail time.

Yeah I don't want to be the type of person to speculate about private stuff like this, it's just struck me as odd for a while and I thought someone here might know more than I do.

Not to be a creep but I have noticed in recent pictures that he isn't wearing a wedding ring like he used to.

Did anyone know this existed? Just discovered it a few weeks ago, really don't know what to think of it. Interesting.

I feel like I might have heard it once when it was released, and then forgot about it. It's kinda slow and repetitive, so I'm okay with it not being on the album.

I have been wondering this exact thing for several months. Obviously I respect his and her privacy so I've never asked or tried looking deeper into it. But aside from keeping their lives private, it did seem like posts/etc regarding their time together stopped very suddenly and I did notice the wedding ring thing, too, posted above.

What a sad situation that was overall, both for her and Ryan, with the accident. I cannot even imagine that type of event occurring in a relationship. Hopefully somehow the two of them were able to find happiness whether that be together or their own separate ways.

I thought they were still married, tbh. She posts a lot on Instagram and Twitter, but neither post about the other, so who knows? They both seem very happy either way, so that's what matters.

I think she's using a walker now which is awesome. I can't even imagine going through that.

I've been meaning to get into these guys for ages... I got into this "scene" older than a lot of people and never really listened to a ton of these guys, NFG, Sum 41... bands like that. I've always gotten the sense that Yellowcard had more melodic sensibilities and emo elements than those other bands, so I think they'll be right up my alley if I dig in more. Would Ocean Avenue be the best album to start with? I've really only heard the singles from that album.

Ocean Avenue is their "big" album, but the rest of the catalog (I feel) digs a lot deeper, musically. Here's my recommendation. Start with OA for a sampler, but move quickly to Paper Walls for some growth...and then check out Lights and Sounds right after for some experimentation on the darker side. After that jump to the newer stuff (When you're through thinking, Southern Air, etc).

PS the band tweeted something about new music soon so I think we can assume the russian fan site was correct yet again.

Will do! I've heard lots of good things about many of these records, stoked to give them listens.

I'd say Southern Air is the best representation of Yellowcards sound and the other albums sort of splinter off into more specific styles. But honestly you cant go wrong with any of the albums from One For The Kids onward.

Having said that, Paper Walls might actually be my new favorite YC record after running through the discography a few times. I've often said that "You and Me and One Spotlight" is my favorite YC song but theres a lot of stellar songs from their catalog on that album. The title track, Cut Me Mick, Five Becomes Four, basically the entire back half of that record.

Paper Walls is fucking legit. Never waffled on my love for that album. I'll find myself randomly singing lines from those songs even though I don't listen to the album itself very often.

I've never quite understood the hate for "Dear Bobbie". Like yeah it's cheesy but so are quite a few YC songs.

Also I finally got on board the b-side train and there are some great tracks in there that any other band would love to have as album tracks.

Still don't know how Promises didn't make WYTTSY. Easily could have done without the song Hide.

I actually think Hide fits better into that track listing than Promises. I love Promises but I can't find a spot for it.

Bombers is the one i've always wondered about. Still think that should've found its way onto something.
