sad that this album didnt have a title track that was just violin, furious drumming, and Key doing vocal scales so actually i hate this album huge disappointment 0/10 sounds like Nickelback

 

It really felt like the band didn't even care about this album. Like why did they even make it in the first place?!

 

I wish turntable.fm was still a thing so we could all listen to the album together and chat about it.

 

Sounds too much like whiny indie Death Cab for Cutie to me. I honestly thought all ten tracks were going to be Ocean Avenue.

 

Yeah I mean, where's the PUNK ya know? I remember I used to go to this site called Absolutepunk but all they did there was talk about Kanye West and whiny pop music so idk punk is dead I guess

 

Savior's Robes is the song you need hahaha

 

you ever notice how this site is called Chorus but there arent any super infectious choruses on this album like cmon whoever named this site is a hack

 

real talk maybe my favorite song on here. that guitar riff is niiiiice

 

It's really really good. Lyrically it kinda makes me uncomfortable, like how shitty do your fans have to be for you to write a song like that?... but yeah, musically it's phenomenal, and the way the bridge transitions back into the last prechorus/chorus is on another level.

I don't think I could pick something other than F&F as my favorite on here, though.

I just listened to this entire thing again.

I fucking love this record.

 

The vocal melodies on the verses of 'A Place We Set Afire' remind me so much of Simple Plan.

 

Hey, so. Where is Will Pugh on this? Anyone have liner notes yet? Unless I've lost it and am making this up.

 

I bet on the screaming distorted part in Got Yours

 

yeah its really well done musically but those lyrics are brutal.

 

However, the ".fm" prefix makes sense for this radio rock album.

 

I don't think it's the whole fan base. I think he's talking to the people that pushed him to do things like go for radio, etc , that he let influence him.

At least that's how I view it.

I'm guessing it's partially about his ex wife as well, as many of these songs seem to have a double "goodbye" meaning.

 

Yes we could chat about how this album doesn't have enough california or summer references!

 

Figured it was directed at the fans who'd come to shows and only want to hear OA songs, or something along those lines.

 

Eh, I think it's a generalization. It doesn't bother me that much.

 

A Place We Set Afire is a song I think will fit comfortably within my top 10 YC songs ever

 

Either way, I'm stunned by how well they pulled off an angry song. The only ones they'd really done before are For You and Your Denial and A Vicious Kind, and Savior's Robes absolutely slaughters both of those.

 

Did anyone else notice the subtle references to "Surface of the Sun" in that song too?
