The outro of Fields & Fences...I think Key and Mackin should pursue film scores now.

On first listen, Saviors Robes was the highlight for me. Going to have to give this one several listens over several days to let it fully sink in. Definitely a change from Lift A Sail

It has been a *long* time since I loved songs on a first listen as much as I loved Got Yours and A Place We Set Afire.

The album is sooo good. I think my instant favorites are What Appears, Got Yours, Leave a Light On, Im a Wrecking Ball and Fields & Fences. This album was a perfect end for them. They brought back some old elements from previous albums and then took some chances that I personally think really worked this. Im really sad that they are breaking up because I think this shows they are still very capable of making great music. Thank you so much Yellowcard.

Truly amazing album so far... probably the perfect ending for Yellowcard. Which is sad, because like the poster above as mentioned, they are still capable of making wonderful music.

The 2003 Warped Tour compilation was the first time I heard Yellowcard. I think the song was Finish Line, and thought wow, this song kicks ass!!! At that point both this album and Ocean Avenue had been released, so I naturally looked into the band to see what else they had out... and the rest is history.

Long time lurker, having listened to this (and loving it) I figured it was time to add some thoughts.

This album is an absolute beauty. It feels like it is a 'true' yellowcard album in that it is clear that Ryan and co have made music in the style that they want rather than for radio play or label demands etc. As a result, the shackles feel off and stylistically it is a very strong record.

Saviour's robes is amazing, feels like For You and Your Denial's meaner cousin. Brilliant.

Empty Street was worth the wait, ever since hearing the drum beat being played in the production videos prior to WYTTSY I have been waiting for it and its great. Got emotional in the bridge of it that's for sure.

Finally I feel it is impossible not to mention Fields and Fences, what a send off.

Make no mistake, 10/10, would listen to this album for the first time in the rain again.

Thank you Yellowcard, it's been a good run and this is a fitting send off.

I just listened to Fields and Fences. I don't even really have words to describe the emotion that song invoked in me. It's as if every memory that every yellowcard song ever created came rushing back at once. I saw so many memories in my head while listening to that song. I can't even truly process it. Such an overwhelming rush of sadness, happiness, closure and acceptance.

No way I'm listening to the link but I saw someone mention that the album version of RIP is different?

If so, does anyone know if I'll get the new version if I preordered the album on iTunes?

another long-time lurker here. i've never loved a band as consistently, for as long, as i have yellowcard. only one and ocean avenue got me hooked, seeing those videos all the time while i was being babysat, i was still in elementary school. i got the album and familiarized myself with all of it before lights & sounds, which i got as an easter present the year it came out. i was eleven then, and my adolescent angst had been long-forming. lights & sounds resonated with me so much; city of devils, space travel, martin sheen or jfk, holly wood died - these songs that were so emotional, sad, and yet despondent or sometimes even angry. that album's my nostalgic favorite (i've got my vinyl sleeve signed by the current lineup of the band) even though i'd say southern air is their best album.

and that's what's always been so special about them to me. they've never stopped expanding, getting better in some way or another. so few people ever recognized this, only equating yc with violins and ocean avenue. since lights & sounds, the only album that i haven't feverishly anticipated leading up to its release was wyttsy, since they managed to slip out of their hiatus rather quietly; still, i got that album right around the time it leaked when i inexplicably came across its existence. i know it had to be right around its release, because i downloaded it the last night i stayed in my childhood home before my mom and i left my dad. i'd lived in this house from the ages of 4-16, so life of leaving home was pretty pertinent in the moment.

i'm sure i'm not the only one who grew up with yellowcard. in a way, each of their albums has left an imprint on distinct periods in my life: first really getting into music with ocean avenue, more prominently developed depression around l&s, awkward middle school and early high school with paper walls, my family splitting up around wyttsy, leaving for college the summer southern air was released, living independently for the first time and struggling financially working a remarkably shitty job when lift a sail came out, and now...

yellowcard says goodbye. rain started to fall when fields & fences started, and really started coming down when the song flourished. it was cheesy but perfect. so many events associated with so many songs flashed through my mind, all the years spent with the music. i'm at a point in my life where i'm in my last semester of college. i have to start living a real life so soon, i'm already living on my own again and doing some adult things like paying bills. watching the rain come down, remembering all of the ways yellowcard has weaved in and out of my life events, it felt like a time of moving forward and transformation is ahead.

as sad of a goodbye this is, it's one that leaves so much hope for the future.

the album's a perfect goodbye from a band who's more important to me than any other musical group. saying goodbye is bittersweet, one of the most surprisingly difficult goodbyes i've ever had to say, but i'm so proud of them. i really hope i can get the funds together to snag a ticket for the final tour soon. i've seen them twice, but one last chance to say goodbye would be special.

(if you actually read this ridiculous rambling post, tyvm ilu)
