Hulu Raw Thoughts:

- New Raw intro is fun

- I can't believe we're living in a world we're Michael Cole called WWE professional wrestling and then went on to list all of Finn Balor's accomplishments. How spectacular. I really have missed the colored ring ropes, it adds so much to the presentation for something that seems to be meaningless. Really good match, I don't like Rusev taking the pin, but I wouldn't have wanted either of the other two to take it either.

- Can't praise the presentation enough. Love the mix between the old school and modern feel. Seems like the Cruiserweight division is going to be the CWC guys, which is kinda cool. Keeps the smaller guys away from the death spot while also still being legitimate.

- Squash matches are okay, especially in Nia's case. Wish she did the Jaxhammer though.

- Another solid Fatal 4 Way. Roman needs to use the Sit-Out Razor's Edge as his finish. Such a sick looking move. lol that superman punch botch by Jericho. The kids really do love Roman

- New Day celebrating their loss to the Wyatt's is weird. Now shipping Gwen Stefani and Jennifer Garner. Oh my God this video package for them is something else. Boo Club Boo. Really fun segment overall

- Chanting CM Punk at Sasha and Charlotte is straight up embarrassing. Oh man, the Eddie tribute was amazing. Sasha is such a gem. Sasha nearly Lita'd that dive to the outside, rough. Charlotte's moonsault is so so good, especially when she has the room to over rotate to the outside. Love it. Damn, that roll up transition into Banks Statement was so smooth. Great great match. Amazing win for Sasha. That's how you make a star and how you make the Women's division important.

- Finn vs. Roman was good. Finish was great, wondering where Roman goes from here and obviously stoked for Finn vs. Rollins. Summerslam already looking to be good.

 

Bring back the European Championship

 

Bring back the Hardcore title

 

I have to imagine they wouldn't be so dumb as to resurrect the Diva's title three months after retiring it, really flies in the face of the whole "New Era" bit, and between Battleground and Raw last night, they've earned my benefit of a doubt that they're serious about it, even if only for the short term.

I could totally see a new TV title being introduced on SD to be the counterweight the Cruisers. I don't know what they'd do for the women... Women's Universal Champion? Please no. Mixed tag belts would be cool, but would also never happen in a thousand years.

 

They'll probably just re-create the Women's title with a blue backdrop instead of red. Universal Women's Championship.....

 

A TV title would be really good for Smackdown and basically make it the Openweight version of the Cruiserweight division. Top name indy guys vying for the title. Would be a really great preshow title too. Same with the Cruiserweights.

 

Gotta one-up the Universal title. The Multiverse title.

 

Stardust return and feud with Max Moon confirmed

 

I'm totally fine with them making a secondary women's title that is like the IC title or something. Especially considering the roster of women on Smackdown has a much more international flavor. Hell, bring back the European title for the ladies. I just don't think it does anyone any good to have two women's world titles. Same for the tag team belts. But on the flipside, how are we supposed to get invested in the storylines for the women's and tag divisions if they don't have a belt to feud over?

 

I really like @Mick's idea for a European Women's Title, or even just an Intercontinental Women's Championship. An inter-promotional Queen of the Ring would be awesome as well.

As for tag titles, a Tornado Tag Team Championship would be glorious, and actually new.

 

All this said, I'm legitimately stoked for Smackdown tonight.

 

So if they create those new titles for SD. It's going to be way too many championships again. WWE, Universal, IC, US, Women's, SD Women's, Raw Tag, SD Tag, Cruiserweight eventually.

Summerslam and the big 4 PPVs will be basically nothing but title matches.

 

I don't see anything wrong with more title matches. Sometimes there are undercard matches on PPV's that feel like they don't matter because there's nothing at stake

 

Yeah, the big four would certainly be crowded with titles, but the brand-specific PPVs would look "weak" on paper without a spattering of more titles... especially SD, since they literally only have 2 atm.

I hope they bring back Bragging Rights as a PPV, I loved the champ vs. champ/brand vs. brand stuff.

 

I hate Nia Jax's theme. Always gets stuck in my head.

 

So into it.

 

Hope the SD set is different from RAW's new one. So happy the red (and blue) ropes are back too!
