I feel like the only reason it is being booked like this is so that the Wyatts can win and look strong, but not take the titles until Summerslam so that New Day can break the Kendrick/London record.

 

I hate to give the wwe an excuse but there did seem like a depth issue via injury and what not during the past few months no?

Naomi, Emma, Nikki all hurt. Sasha hurt for a short time. Brie left. Paige appears to be in hot water (allegedly). Lana isn't a wrestler.

Now I think a good creative team should be able to over come this. Give summer rae a feud in the meantime...maybe let that be sashas warm up feud. But I can't expect such things from this company

 

What is the point of that submission hold that ZSJ breaks out of if he shows no pain from it IMMEDIATELY AFTER the hold is broken? He's just able to make two big reversals right away like it's nothing? Dynamite reversals, entertaining to watch, but what's the point?

 

They tie that record on the Smackdown show before Battleground. So I dont think that is it.

And remembering, "winning and looking strong" was the theory for the League of Nations, who disbanded 2 weeks later.

Sure, Emma getting hurt hurt that Becky storyline. But they still have Paige and other wrestlers. At some level you have to build them, because aside from Sasha, there isnt a believable title winner on the whole female roster right now.

Compared to what came out of the IC title ladder match and fallout, where you have 4 or 5 guys all elevated or brough back into the fold, these great stories at Payback and ER and MITB all tying together. And you could put any one of them against the WWE Champ and they are believable underdogs.

Its basically only explainable by the WWE not caring. Cause they showed in the build to WM (and in NXT) that they can make a story work

 

Just give what we, and her, want.

What really got eyes on the women in NXT is how competitive the landscape became from a match quality standpoint. That essentially became the storyline with the four horsewomen. Four competitors vying to be the best, trading wins, etc etc. I still think WWE massively screwed up by not following up WM with Charlotte, Sasha, and Becky all feuding for the belt. I would have even been into them doing something were you saw the belt change hands multiple times between all three. Something that really made it where any one of the three could beat the other two on any given night. You naturally build the stakes up from there. It's not a storyline about backstabbing friends or who your father is (which isn't to say the division can't have those type of feuds—it's wrestling, there's always going to be those feuds in both divisions), it's a story about being the fucking best, which everyone can invest in.

 

Agreed. And who cares if you job out Paige/Natalya/etc in service of that through MITB.

Then Summerslam and beyond (and now this draft) could have been about bringing in Bayley to the mix, as well as Emma and Dana.

 

Since it is pretty much a lock that Bayley will be tagging with Sasha, how long before Sasha betrays her? lol

 

You don't even have to job out Paige or Nattie. Given the injuries at the time, a Paige/Nattie feud could have been the second women's match on the card. I mean, they even set that up at one point last year, but ended up just dropping it right? The whole, "Who attacked Nattie" thing. You can't just have Sasha/Becky/Charlotte squash every woman in the division, but it's clear that they are the future of the division and the brightest stars right now. I wouldn't even have those three interacting with the other women all that much. Let them focus on each other for right now while you build up someone like Emma or Summer Rae or Alicia Fox to be more believable threats in the future. Then you've got Paige and Nattie who are already established as threats. Naomi is a decent enough hand when she comes back from injury, and then you've got Nikki who you can take in a variety of different directions when/if she is cleared to return.

 

Why is that a lock? What a shitty debut for Bailey that would be, squashed into an already shitty Sasha/Charlotte program in the midst of Banks finally getting coronated. She would either have nothing to do or be irrelevant until after Summerslam.

 

Yeah, Sasha and Bayley have always been enemies. Obviously they're super tight in real life, but keeping in kayfabe, it would make zero sense for Sasha to seek out Bayley, other than she is playing more of a face in this feud. I guess the upside to bringing Bayley in here and having Sasha turn on her down the road is that it reestablished her character as a heel, which I think we can all agree is where the money is at with her.

For the time being, I would play it something like this: Have Sasha decline getting a partner at all, because she's a real boss and can handle both Charlotte and Dana herself. Make it a handicap match. Have Sasha pick up the win by pinning Dana again. That leads into SummerSlam for the title between the two of them.

seems more likely it's paige, but idk. wouldn't be the best use of bayley's debut. who knows what happens with the draft, but i'd thought she'd debut the raw in brooklyn after sasha won the belt at ss.

i think bayley debuting at battleground would also cloud the title picture when they're clearly teeing things up for sasha right now, so i dont see how much sense thatd make.
