Okada/Cody should be very interesting. There's no better place for Cody to put on the match of his life, and no opponent that could make him look better.

 

It's the perfect match for Cody to actually impress me in ring. If he can't pull off a good match here, I don't see him ever doing anything special in ring.

 

It's really interesting, because this is pretty much a unanimous opinion, but the guy has to be a bonafide draw. It's been over a year since he left WWE (which, wtf, it feels like half that) and despite not wowing anyone anywhere he's gone, he has been on a steady uninterrupted rise, and could potentially be NJPW and ROH champion simultaneously. Probably not, sure, but the fact that it's even feasible is kinda bonkers.

 

He seems to be over AF in Japan and apparently his shirt was the best selling one of the event

 

Oh wow. Good for him. He may not be my favorite dude in the ring but he seems like a good guy and he wears his family legacy very well.

 

Guess we gave people enough time to watch the show to start talking about what happened. lol

 

Almost made it 36 hours.

 

I mean, we don't give people two days to watch WWE lol. I think this is a fair amount of time but my bad if not.

Fair point. Probably the thing that bothers me most about wrestling. But, as Henry said, Okada's finisher is apparently pretty protected, so that helps the story a bit (as I said, I don't watch a ton of NJPW). In general, across all promotions, I'd like less finishers to be used. Maybe a signature ends a match some time, too.

 

I thought that was just a live discussion thread/rumors hub. Didn't know this thread was to be NJPW-free. Noted.

 

Yeah I think wrestlers need to start implying more than one finisher, I know some do. In a perfect world all wrestlers would have one finisher that never or very very rarely gets kicked out of. It's so easy to make a match good by making the main storyline trying to pull off the finisher, rather than nailing it three times perfectly and having the other guy kick out.

 

Henry just has to pretend to actually be a mod sometimes.

 

I mean, it's cool. I don't agree with the way Reddit patrols their boards. It's difficult to have and enforce embargoes without having well defined rules and multiple feds. I set up rules for Wrestle Kingdom and just assumed we'd go with them in the future. We should have something for the PPV's since most of us aren't watching live. Today is probably a fair wait, but there are definitely people that haven't watched it yet.

If you guys are cool with two days, we'll do that.

 

Chikara is running the "Johnny Kidd Invitational" next weekend. 8 man tournament focused on World of Sport style technical wrestling. If you like that style, there is an absolute dream match in the first round between Mike Quakenbush and Zack Sabre Jr. Hallowicked v Matt Riddle should be fantastic too.
