Wouldn't this essentially make Shane a heel though? I know it's being done to a heel, but pulling away a championship match from a top competitor (especially at WM) isn't going to put Shane in a good light with the fans.

 

Where is this cm punk talk coming from? He isn't coming back for at least a few more years.

 

Yeah I absolutely listen to The WOL and WOR pods nearly daily and that is why I sound like an even half competent wrestling fan lol. It's great listens though it has taken over the majority of my podcast listening time.

 

Anybody going against AJ right now is going to get heat though. It's just that typical mixed bag split reaction deal.

 

Another pod I have just ventured into is the Lapsed Fan podcast. Dudes do like 6 hour deep dives into retro ppvs. The Over The Edge '99 one (the one with Owens death) is an INCREDIBLE listen. Very chilling but fascinating details about the whole ordeal. I highly recommend everyone to check it out.

I honestly don't even think a double turn is far fetched for this. AJ gets cheered no matter what, and I think the fans are willing to boo Shane against him. You still have Bryan as the good guy GM to balance it all out, and Shane doesn't even have to heel it up the way Steph does on Raw. Maybe he just doesn't like AJ for whatever reason and by the end of the feud AJ earns his respect. I don't know, I'm not a writer and I'm just trying to make this all make sense, but I think the story is there.

 

If Punk were to return, there is 0% chance it would be at Mania itself, they always save those big surprises for the Raw after.

 

Randy has a title shot if he wants it, and Shane would have to honor that. He could make it a Triple Threat at WM, but, cant see how that would make AJ happy since he wants a 1-on-1 shot. Shane being in a tough spot and trying to be fair doesnt inherently make him a heel.

But truth is, he'd probably get boo'd v AJ

I mean, this is the dynamic that Miz and Alexa have with D-Bry, so, it would make sense. Doesnt have to be pure heel/face, instead they have guys in power who dislike others.

 

BUT THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT THE BIGGEST GREATEST SURPRISE EVER.
