#1 contender match at WM just feels really wrong for some reason

 

I'm hoping they just do "showcase" matches for the older guys and don't involve it in the title picture. I don't think they need to be involved for people to be invested in the matches. Could do something like:

Cena v Taker
Goldberg v Lesnar rematch (put a stipulation/gimmick match on it if you have to)
Balor (rematch clause) v Reigns (UT)
Joe (RR) v Styles (WT)
HHH v Rollins
Owens v Jericho

Braun can face Show or something. I don't think he's ready for a major match at Mania.

 

Ohhh rematch clause, never thought of that

 

If Balor can use his rematch clause, then it really makes no sense for him to be in the RR.

 

Big Show's already slated to face Shaq.

 

Owens/Jericho
Reigns/Strowman
Styles/Joe/Cena
Taker/Balor
Goldberg/Lesnar
HHH/Rollins

Current Mania Lineup according to Latest WON... DIRTSHEET SPOILERS BE WARNED

"The Mania lineup at this point is looking like Goldberg vs. Lesnar, Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns, HHH vs. Seth Rollins, Jericho vs. Owens, Wyatt vs. Orton, Show vs. Shaquille O’Neal and Charlotte vs. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax as the Raw women’s title match. The key is the Rumble winner is likely, although they could swerve, to be the person who will challenge for either the Universal title or WWE title.

The only Smackdown match on that list is Orton vs. Wyatt, and it’s not a secret that Wyatt was scheduled for a title run in 2017. That immediately puts both of them in contention, and if one wins, the other would be favored to win the Chamber match. There’s a story that just started going around about Orton winning the Rumble and Wyatt winning the Chamber match. If that doesn’t happen, it would be because plans changed. Even though historically the booking before Mania always gets out and it almost never changed (it changes for other reasons, such as injuries or guys quitting, but that’s usually known as well), with the increase in social media, my feeling is nothing is a lock until it happens. I doubt we’ll see major destination changes, in the sense the top of the card will probably be pretty close to as is slated now, but how to get there could change."

Edit: also the story going around now is Orton wins Rumble and Wyatt wins the belt at the Chamber. Also from this issue.

I love it. My girlfriend and I were walking around a trail by a lake in November when it was dark and I started playing the music sorta quietly and telling her sorta horror stories and she got so freaked haha

 

Almost everything about that is awful. Jeri-KO, Brock/Goldberg, HHH/Rollins, Shaq/Show are obvious....everything else they seem to have bad combos

It presumes Roman wins the title, Taker wins the Rumble...thats a damn nigthmare. And Roman goes over Taker at WM....yeesh that's gonna make the HHH reactions look mild.

Why are we suddenly pushing Bray and Randy to the moon? Let that "friendship" build and have one of them chase the IC title. Make the turn at WM, and that feud payoff across brand PPVs after. Especially when you have AJ/Cena/Ambrose/Miz who are all left without a marquee matchup, despite being 90% of the intrigue on Smackdown since the split.

For how many great matches they can make, they seem to have really missed the ball. And all the things they've built since the split (Braun, Nia, Miz+IC, Ambrose and AJ, etc) arent even paid off in any way. Braun wins ARMBAR is a snooze. Nia as the forgotten Big Cass of the womens 4-way...

Lets hope its mostly wrong

 

Actually the article says Lesnar/Goldberg is for the Universal title (there's more that wasn't posted)

 

Random match generator gave me Triple H v Stone Cold at Survivor Series 2000. That shit was crazy.

 

Those spoilers are shit. No way does Smackdown run with that. I'd be shocked really.

 

i don't see why taker's in the rumble other than to win it or to set up a mania feud with strowman. either scenario, strowman doesn't win the rumble.

hunch is strowman enters early, maybe breaks the elimination record, gets tossed out by taker late, then gets taker eliminated.

 

Hopefully this finally ends the speculation he's leaving NJPW

 

The Roman/Taker match makes sense, but is still dumb. The Roman heel turn just seems to be speculative, and I don't have faith they'll actually do it.

Orton and Wyatt doesn't need the title, but if they were to do it that way, I'd rather see Wyatt win the Rumble and Orton win the Chamber. Rumble is too big of show to give it to a guy who's already won it once AGAIN. Aside from Roman, the last 3 winners (2016, 2014, 2013) were all second time winners. Gotta break that trend.

The fact that AJ is going to face Shane is a travesty and how in the world does John Cena and Dean Ambrose not have anything set in place yet? Insane that the biggest draw in the company *might* have something set, but not totally. Ambrose has carried Smackdown with AJ and he could be stuck in another multi-man ladder match. Insulting.

God this would be bad if its legit. Lets all hope this is the final swerveball before the Rumble.

 

Yeah, reading shit like this is the reason I don't feel bad missing Mania this year.
