Yeah, if it happens the way you've forecasted I'll be bummed because it'll feel like a missed opportunity, not because it's inherently bad. They've got such a talented roster and enough positive momentum right now that even a card that I think isn't fully optimized can still be great overall.

It's really an incredible contrast to where they were literally weeks ago. A complete 180.

I dont think there is any world where they can have as many PPVs as they have between now and All In (Dynasty, presumably DoN, Forbidden Door, etc) and keep Joe champion. Bless his heart, he's crushed it, but he's not even remotely close to a top 10 guy on the roster. He was the right guy for that story...and even that got derailed...but he 100% needs to drop the belt to the guy who is gonna drop the belt to Ospreay at All In because anything else is a bad choice.

If Joe is champion going into Wembley, it means that some combo (and at least half of, if not more) of Danielson, Mox, Cole, MJF, Kingston, Jay White, Okada, Ospreay, Omega, Hangman, and Swerve are going into that PPV with an ice cold story beyond "dream match we hinted at 2 weeks ago". Maybe they shoehorn them into a Stadium Stampede or something, but it'd be bad when they all have so many natural cross-points.

The way they split the belts and are booking things, sure, very possible...and Will winning it at Wembley and going into the CC tourney as champ makes sense (and he wins the AEW title at maybe Revolution next year), but even then, thats missing an opportunity.

It’s going to be swerve defending against Ospreay

I'd put Joe well above Danielson, Cole, Kingston, and Jay White in terms of AEW hierarchy. Danielson doesn't want to be a focal point, Cole is damaged beyond belief and injured, Jay White is barely above him at this point. Kingston, on a roster as crowded as it is, doesn't really seem in line for a main event push.

Then MJF is out. Omega is out. Hangman is out. None of them have reliable timetables for a return.

That sort of just leaves Mox, Okada, Ospreay, and Swerve. Ospreay should be main eventing All In, and the other three could work around each other for the summer.

I could absolutely change my line of thinking if some, or any of those guys return in a reasonable time frame, or they manage to rehab Cole and/or White. My main point is just that, while I have no doubt Swerve/Ospreay would be awesome, I think it would be a bad idea to turn Swerve again this quickly, and just doing the babyface vs. babyface thing for a show THAT big seems like a missed opportunity.

I definitely get your point, and don't disagree it's a tough premise. I guess at the end of the day, I view anyone holding the title from now until Ospreay's inevitable coronation as being a stop-gap and my preference would be to keep it on the current one to build cache. But, I see and understand the logical arguments for using someone else in that role, too.

Also, Bret Hart is and has always been right about Goldberg. Screw that guy.

Sure, agreed in kayfabe he's above those guys...in reality, all of them are either more dynamic, younger, etc and we've just seen way too many people languish because of long title reigns in AEW. Like, its so bloated that Ricky Starks went from "he's the guy that should dethrone MJF" to being random tag champ and absent from TV a couple months. Jay White, likewise, red hot and then depushed. Put Swerve over so he can get his 2-3x PPV title defenses and then the next guy goes.

You cant have the same thing happen to Okada, Ospreay, etc...you cant have Danielsons final year being in low-mid-card stuff...and even a dude like Eddie or OC or Darby, who carried the company over the last year...to be back to only working ROH or random matches 1x a month

Also, dont disagree about Swerve, but, the main event of All In last year was face v face and it worked. ANd there's plenty of time for Swerve to be a face in Apr/May/June and turn in early July to set up All In.

If they do move the title to Swerve, I think I'd take the face vs. face route (even if I think it's not great overall) versus turning him again. Guys shouldn't be turning every 3-4 months, and that's something AEW has done too frequently.

I also whole-heartedly agree about Danielson, I just think he's more or less relegated himself to his position, to the detriment of his own drawing power. I just feel like he'd scoff at the idea of being anywhere near the title picture even if it was the best move at the time.
