I feel that in a big way - not as it pertains to this discussion or anything, just in general. When you say anything negative, you kind of have to brace yourself for being called a shill for the other promotion. It's insane.

In any case, I don't have any issue if people didn't like the glass spots because they just thought it went a bridge too far for their tastes. Everyone has a threshold for that sort of thing, be it because of the violence or the inherent heightened risk to the wrestlers. Inevitably, though, if you say that, someone comes in with "betcha loved the Shane vs. Kurt match at KOTR '01!!!!"

Finn is way more in his element as the guy who can take punishment & do cool moves with Priest as his hot tag. It was a good way to spice up what could have been a cold heel vs heel match.

 

I don’t think the spot took away from Sting’s shine because it served a purpose to knock out Darby and directly led to Sting beating the shit out of the Bucks by himself and no selling table spots and EVP triggers and that all made Sting seem pretty rad in his retirement match

 

It’s crazy to think how big Sunday was for AEW and they still have Okada and Mercedes on the way + Omega, Cole, MJF, Starks not involved (Jay White basically not involved as well). I hope it all comes together nicely this year.

Sting’s retirement night + Okada/Mercedes debuts + Wrestlemania all jammed in the span of a month is so good for wrestling.

 

tony khan mentioned at the press conference that he felt it was important to keep the pedal to the floor and continue this momentum

It's pretty wild that AEW pulled off what I think was the best show they've ever done (Revolution) coming off what I think is the worst/most damaging angle they've ever done (The Devil/Undisputed Kingdom.)

Emotional swings!

 

He feels very determined to make 2024 massive. Last year was such a weird year for AEW for many reasons lol so I get why he wants to try and power past all of that

 

I just hope the momentum and positivity they cultivated with Revolution carries over to the television long term. It was their best booked PPV to date by a mile, and I think the end result should serve as justification to really hone in on that level of focus in the booking going forward.

I know AEW has always had good to great PPVs, but there's really no downside to building cards for months instead of a couple of weeks. The fans that don't care about that stuff and just want good wrestling will be there anyway, and the people like me who do will be far more invested.

 

They'll complain again once Mercedes does a street fight and pulls out some gusset plates.

Gr8 now rly begin a new era of aew: make jay white a singles' star, abolish the trio belts, abolish all ROH belts, rename collision to AEW: ROH, more focus on the women, restart the tag team division with a focus on actual tag teams, and enforce the rules a bit more.

I'd love for aew to have a big momentum again.
