Look, i'm the type to think that on this site, having a majority of discourse being negative is not fun and that's just me and I don't enjoy being in this thread because of it. I don't enjoy most of this website anymore because of it.

I deff agree and I assume people are thinking that's how I am coming off and that's fine. I just don't use my energy to shit on things in general, I think WWE is as mediocre and top heavy as ever, but I don't need to present that in here because people enjoy it and they should! I often envy the passion that some people in here still have about wrestling, I don't so much.

Of course we are wrestling nerds and going to criticize but there's levels to that shit. I don't need Squared Circle levels of that in here, personally.

Just to be transparent I think there have been a growing number of pro-WWE, anti- AEW fans in here and it's just not enjoyable for me to engage with or ever read. I think they would not call themselves WWE marks and anti-AEW but it really is giving that in here often.

My other point I always try to bring in here is that look at the history of wrestling booking in our lives. 95 percent of the time wrestling booking and storylines are dogshit, that's just how it works. Usually there isn't a hot story line or someone with massive momentum. I say that beacuse it's the reality of wrestling, and people forget that with AEW but seem to accept in WWE.

I do apologize for coming off passive aggressive, I don't think there are any 'bad' people in here, I think everyone is great. It's just become discourse that tangibly interferes with my day if I engage with it, so I don't.

Also to sum it up, I think wrestling is the best it's ever been now, with legitimate competition to WWE. I remember what the 2010's were like and they were awful. So I scratch my head when I see so many things being criticized, but again, thats just what some people enjoy doing and that's okay.

For what it's worth, the way I look at it is that it's a great sign of where wrestling is right now that we can debate the effectiveness of a booking decision on a random weekly episode of TV, because there have absolutely been times when everything was bad.

 

im not taking it personally dan i can be annoyed and not molten

it ties back, actually. we could maybe stop assuming any post that contains a swear or something is a personal attack. if you're "perfectly happy" lurking and only dropping into to be lightly negative, enjoy, but i can't imagine looking at it as going against a negative conversation.

For the record I wasn’t trying to stifle conversation I just personally didnt think a six man tag on 4/20 was worth thinking too much about how it affects the storylines. If you want to, that’s fine!

 

@Shrek - didn't want the Nick Hausman response earlier to get lost. I don't know a ton about the guy other than the obvious, but I'm curious what you've seen/heard that discredits him (generally speaking, not specifically referring to the D'Amore stuff.)

I know about the Punk/Cabana stuff, and him being the leading voice in the Jericho situation. I took him to be very obviously messy (his reporting on/about Kylie but then standing on a moral high ground about not revealing his sources when it came to D'Amore) but never got a read on if he totally lacked credibility or was just a little slimy.

It's sometimes hard to decipher on Twitter when there's a bunch of people attacking him as a stooge, but doing so on a seemingly serious post about SA. I have a hard time discerning whether those people are saying that because he's, well, a stooge, or because they're the part of the subset of fans actively trying to ignore SA.

 

everyone should be able to criticize anything wrestling oriented in here without feeling like you're being personally attacked, that is precisely why just the other day we were all gushing about how we're thankful to have a space to rant and rave about our silly pro wrestling that isn't toxic as fuck. everyone also needs to realize that not every response to a statement means that it is an attack on that person's criticism. i disagree with J12's take about this match, but me posting some stupid meme saying I think the tag makes sense and will be good is a disagreement and not a personal attack. just want to make that as crystal clear as possible. we all should be able to disagree or voice our opinion without it spiraling into the thread explosion of the week.

there is a clear AEW lean here but it would be daft of me or anyone else to think it would be otherwise (we're all mainly 30 year old nerds on an alt music message board in 2024). this is not some #standupforaew shit but i'd be comfortable making the broad assumption that the majority of posters are more invested in the alternative vs. the industry leader. tribalism shit can suck the shit from my ass and i'll leave it at that.

my source is very ephemeral, but there was some reddit drama at the corporate level some time ago and a lot of subs switched to discord servers. Hausman in the brief time in there got accused of plagiarizing, responded with a "no the source plagiarized me" and ppl were like "how is that possible" and he had a tantrum and deleted his posts and left

your post was funny and i've never thought you were being passive aggressive. i also know i am not the arbiter of what is mean and i am frequently mean but i try to let it stay w the brainworms
