WWE is 1,000x better at handling special attraction performers imo

 

I'm not going to get into a huge argument over it, other than to say the handling of characters is obviously very subjective and I pretty strongly disagree with most of the takes in here about so-and-so's booking being "fine" if we're talking about the last two years of AEW TV.

My post earlier pretty much outlines the cause for a lot of my perceived issues with character handling.

I think they did a pretty admirable job with a lot of their homegrown talent over that period - and that's awesome. Just strongly disagree with the notion about the guys they brought in. And, again, attendance favors that argument.

 

Who has WWE booked well that isn’t one of their own besides Cody and LA Knight? Even Knight was booked awfully for the first part of his run and they haven’t really pushed him as much as they could have. It’s too early to tell with Jade. The celebrities have definitely delivered, but that’s a special circumstance.

Eh both guys have felt stale for quite awhile. I wouldn’t really use them as an example to prove a point.

 

i def am, but look at Kenta and Nak's NXT presentations under HHH

 

they may be stale but you said who have they done right by and they 100 percent did right by AJ

 

It’s been a long time since then but I do agree that they did great with both guys with they first came in.

 

This is giving them waaaaaay too much credit. They had two opportunities, knowing that Cole would be on the shelf for months on end, to pivot away from this and failed. The devil wasn't even introduced until after Cole got hurt.

They also had all of that time, knowing that Cole would be out and on the shelf, to re-establish the supporting cast if they were so adamant about carrying it out unchanged. Instead, they made Roddy and the Kingdom comedy acts and put Wardlow on TV like twice.

It's one of the worst things the company has ever done in terms of creative, straight up.

 

And yeah, RE: Okada being booked in WWE.

No one would even be having a discussion about whether or not WWE was a good place for him if Vince were still in charge. I don't even think it'd have been worth him entertaining them as an option.

Yeah, they botched the Devil thing badly. Its easy to see how a healthy Cole (as the Devil) basically talks MJF into defending the belt again after his Jay White match and wins it and that reveal is cool and jump starts a mega heel run for Cole...and what we've gotten instead is, WWE in 2018 levels of bad.

I'm glad at least they pivoted it away from the title scene and we've had Hangman/Swerve ascend again

 

Remember when AEW started and people got pissed because he was wrestling Alan Angels instead of being the number 1 guy in the company?

there's a huge roster and it's really hard to fit everyone into all of the shows so unless they get another slot with 2-3 hours then I would just advise everyone to be patient and let everything unfold.

 

they were not forced to sign them i don't sympathize for the self-imposed problems of billionaires

 

Tony Khan just gives collector vibes tbh. He just wants all the big names and buzzy indie talent to himself

 

Who cares? He gives a lot of guys jobs that wouldn’t have jobs otherwise and lets most of them still do the indies as well. Let’s not forget he didn’t release anyone during the pandemic unlike other companies who made record profit yet still fired people lol

 

i am glad the wrestlers are getting paid, yes, but that does not mean i am stoked to see them pop up on a Rampage a month. i contain multitudes.

 

So black and gold era NXT? Haha

 

sometimes this thread makes me feel like i'm just far too easy to please when it comes to the alternatives to WWE

 

The booking is still weird for some wrestlers that have been there for a while. I'm glad Swerve is finally at where he should have been a year ago

 

I don’t doubt that Okada’s WM entrance would be fucking incredible but I also think I’m just down on new talent in WWE as long as Roman is champ
