Ronda Rousey is a bigger star than Mercedes Mone and if she wanted to wrestle in AEW TK would've given her the bag already - the ROH was a one-off thing with Shafir was it not?

it did until he got injured lol - the actual booking and angles were great.

 

the TBS title felt like a bigger deal than the women's world title for a large portion of Jade's reign and the name inextricably linked to it is in WWE, i think it would make plenty of sense. not like either title has a ton of prestige in reality.

 

i don't think you can argue rousey is a bigger star in the wrestling world. no building is getting sold out for ronda rousey.

 

Yeah more people knowing who you are doesn't equal better ticket sales

She's a substantially bigger star than any woman they've ever had on the roster, and there really isn't anyone remotely close to her level in terms of star power. And, while they've undoubtedly done a much better job with the women's division in preparation for her arrival, it's a little bit "too little, too late" in a lot of ways. She's a big fish in a small pond right now.

If they want to hold off on putting the title on her, I think you have to give her a feud with whoever you deem the most accomplished female heel on the roster and play that out for a bit. The problem is, they don't really have one. Britt Baker might be the best option in that regard.

I'm excited to see Mercedes, but I think this ride could be as tumultuous as Punk's. She's a big personality with big expectations for her presentation. If Tony starts to slip with the women's booking, as he's been apt to do, this won't end well.

 

Eh, comparing Mercedes to Punk is pretty unfair

 

Punk's issues weren't with booking(he was literally given everything), he just couldn't stop assaulting coworkers.

I wasn't referring to the nature of Punk's actions, rather how big of a headache he could be. I don't expect Mercedes to have a blow-up at a press conference or get into physical altercations, but I don't doubt that she could be tremendously hard to work with if the creative goes sideways or she's treated in a manner unbecoming of her perceived value.

The comparison exists because she's the biggest star since Punk to be brought in, is being debuted and treated very similarly out of the gate, is, like Punk, drawing fan expectations as a company-carrying level act, and has been known to be a bit ornery.

Like Punk, I also think some of her frustrations are pretty well justified.
