I think they were hoping Balor would get more heat in the Rollins feud than he did. He was more heelish than Priest during that stretch but everybody knew he wasn’t winning either match so it was hard to boo him.

 

I know that I’m in the minority in this and as someone who never been interested in his work, Finn has always been mid to me.

my issue with this is there was no imagination and the writers took it too fucking literal with having everyone just turn into an asshole heel king character for the last like 15 years it existed.

imo it kind of went to shit when they had Theory cash in on the fucking US title.

it was before the new WHC came out. Trips was trying to make the US title seem like a major belt, maybe even the 2nd most important belt because Roman and Gunther with the IC belt were on Smackdown. So Rollins, Lashley and Theory were all gravitating around the US title like it was worth anything. That idea was short lived and soon enough the WHC title was born/returned.

Collision shouldn't exist. It was a huge mistake and it's the crux of AEW's current issues imo. It's okay to have a 'bad' rating because something else is on but there is a certain level of abysmal ratings that are big red flags.

 

I'd say no matter what the reason is, hitting your lowest all time targeted demo number is cause for genuine concern, can't just write it off as 'oh the rumble was on' , ya know?

 

I think the night is just really tough for live viewing since there’s so much competition. Another 2 hour show isn’t a bad idea, but they can’t get anything outside of the weekend due to WMD’s contracts with NBA/NHL. WMD would be smart to put the show on a different night and maybe have it exclusive to MAX so it doesn’t conflict on cable with their existing sports contracts.

 

Could be an issue with his deal expiring tomorrow. There’s still some guys like Kenny, Jay and the bucks who had stuff up long after they left though

I mean, I 100% agree and very much preferred the 2-3hr a week (taped the same night) version of AEW.

But all their problems (ticket sales, ratings, etc) stem from the same reality that AEW basically has two fanbases. One is people who are completely done with WWE and will only watch AEW or non-WWE wrestling. That rating says there’s about 300,000 of them. And the rest are lapsed WWE fans, who tuned in and out when WWE had been hot, And who didn’t even blink about watching AEW over NXT…but also were gonna watch the rumble and would have done so over Dynamite too. They’re also going to cheaper/hotter WWE live events over AEW.

Big problem with Collision is that both those cadres of people (myself included), had stopped watching five hours of wrestling a week. And when AEW was only two hours, it was refreshing.

But Collision also did fine against the CFP, etc…it’s literally only other wrestling (and in this case a big 4 ppv…I believe the 2nd lowest collision is vs Summerslam) that seems to hurts it.

 

Yeah, as a dad to a 2yr old, I’m basically the prime audience for collision because what else am I doing at 8pm on a Saturday (or 10pm on a Friday for that matter)? Yet I miss it probably 50+ percent of the time.

I'd gladly pay more for Max than I am for Fite to have a 2hr Weds show and Rampage that airs at a reasonable time for 1hr (and is either more womens or trios heavy or just does what they've been doing, having like 30-35mins of it just be wrestling) than what they're currently doing. And fold ROH into that as well.

 

i like Ricky Starks but very much think if he wants top treatment, he needs to look at TNA. he has somehow become someone i associate with whining online, even tho it is usually whining online about other people whining online.

 

Smackdown is coming in May and I haven't been to a WWE show since May 2017. if Reigns loses at Mania i will grace them w a nosebleed purchase

 

I think Ricky would be the NXT world champ. Not sure what they’d do with him on Raw/SD but if the crowd likes him he could go far

 

I think with Vince gone eventually he could get himself to the top. I don’t doubt he could get himself extremely over there. But that size… he’d be looking like Rey compared to everyone else
