Just watched the Seth/punk segment too. Seth’s promo was great.

I cringe every time punk says “I’m home”. Goofy shit unless you ignore just about every promo he did in AEW and the Cabana interview..lol

Damn, I thought they were going to wait for a big show to do Bate/Dragon Lee.

Bate’s probably getting called up after this. Then they'll be on the same show again lol

I know it wouldn’t happen and I’d hope it never happened but there’d be something poetic about CM Punk leaving WWE and wanting to put them down only to come back and end up putting the competition out of business.

Didn't they say it was Carmelo? Although Smackdown has like 8 people who actually wrestle every week on the men's side.

I mean, not really. They popped one of the highest viewership numbers for AEW ever at 10pm on a Friday night...because he was teased...for a show that normally does like 30% of that audience now. That was his 3rd appearance in WWE; he kept Rampage afloat for a month or two by himself for sure, but, within ~6 months it was fading.

WWE's got the benefit of him having his first actual TV match being the Rumble (he'll do 2-3 house show matches like that Dom one before). Shit, they got a LOT of run out of Cody until he got hurt too. But the real test is always, when he actually finishes a feud and has to do the normal stuff, will he be fine. When some dirt sheet leaks whatever, does he go off. And the funniest of all is gonna be, I assume, in May of next year if he has to do a Saudi show.

That’s for the tournament but Bate is being set up for a call up after the Brawling Brutes breakup and Butch not having a partner to help him vs. Lashley/SP and Pretty Deadly.

It would be the irony of all ironies if the guy who thought of himself as the indie prince, who walked out on WWE's toxicity, ended up being the dude that kinda kills the industry for good (cause if AEW goes, what's gonna be left for TNA/ROH/NJPW/etc...). Ends up making Vince richer than he coulda ever dreamed a decade ago.

Also, Bate looked amazing in that match, but clearly has not path to relevance in NXT proper. Dragon Lee just won the NA title. There's no obvious feud out of the Iron Survivor Match. Just a good reminder that he can absolutely go, and despite being relevant for several years, is only 26 somehow.

Things you could not have convinced me of back in like, 2017. That Tyler Bate would be directionless 5-6 years later and some random guy winning a midcard belt in MLW would be the hottest act in a competing company at the same age.

For sure. It was time for him to get called up a long while ago but it probably wasn’t going to happen with Vince.

people talking like Punk and Seth made that segment in equal measure are insane lol. people watched for Punk, but a broom could have been across from Seth and that promo would have been a top of his career. it was what it was because Seth was given an unusual amount of free rein and showed up and smashed it. Punk played off it well - his facial expressions were so next level, the progressiveness of his sunken face. but that segment was literally all Seth, and all three of Punk's promos have been weak imo

  21. Sure but what other wrestler is inspiring that kind of promo from Seth? Punk is obviously the perfect foil for Seth and Seth brought one of his best if not his best promo ever

it’s gonna be the best feud of 2024

the whole thing about there being no agent for this segment makes me think it was less Punk miraculously pulling a good promo out of one of the best guys in the company and more because he got to say what he wanted how he wanted too

feud will rule though and im sure Punk will shine here and there

C2 is the only thing going really. other than the requisite devil mask shot
