i am a huge wrestling game nerd, i find an excuse to boot up 2K23 every other day when i'm between coming home from work and making dinner. i watch a few hours of WWE a month and watch almost all weekly AEW content. AND i'm bad with money! it is insane that i've not even been close to pulling the trigger.

 

I went with 25 just because it seemed like a reasonable number lol.

Honestly, I think there’s only one answer to this one and it’s Tiffany Stratton. She has a legitimate argument to being the best women’s wrestler this year (she shouldn’t win), not just Rookie of the Year

 

stratton v becky at no mercy is probably my favorite NA women's match by far this year. rhea and charlotte was really really good but becky/stratton was just so dope

 

And WWE 2K is consistently on sale. Granted it’s a yearly sports game and those games always get discounted over time but i cannot imagine this game selling well enough to justify keeping it at the price it’s at.

 

also, no one actually wants a new No Mercy, and that's just a fact

 

I disagree with that. The gameplay is by far the best thing about the game. It’s easy for my no wrestling friends to pick up and have fun with. It definitely has an old school feel and is different from the 2K games.

It’s just the fact that the story mode is so short, the roster is out of date/DLC is too much, create a wrestler is a joke and there’s just not enough content to keep you interested outside of playing random matches with friends.

 

it is fun, but it doesn't really play like No Mercy imo. that game has never really left my rotation and most of the time when people say "i miss when 'X' was less complicated" i can point to that same action being the same amount on inputs or less than in modern 2K games, just on a different button because controllers have a bunch of those now. Fire Pro has a storied history and localized their best entry in FPW over and supported it with aggressive sales and free content and it just couldn't find a bigger market. i guess my "no one" is referring to the people buying the games.
