the few Sting matches ive been lucky enough to be live for on this run are cherished memories. i think he will be the first wrestler to have two completely separate legacies for two different bodies of work: the WCW Sting that changed wrestling for the oldheads, and the AEW Sting that brought that mentality to a televised super indie and left it all out there in front of a younger demo that likely had people who had never seen him work before

 

the only time i got to see him actually wrestle in person was at the nitro goldberg beat hogan for the title..i think he and luger defended the tag titles as part of the wolfpac or something.

he was at the only AEW show i've been to but he got jumped and got in zero offense..lol.

 

in a wrestling world where legend runs are decried all the time for their selfishness, Sting has tag wins in AEW over:

It is legitimately ridiculous to look at Stings body of work as a wrestler and everything he’s done.

He’s been around for so long that he’s won titles with the fucking ultimate Warrior before he was even the ultimate warrior. He’s wrestled for Jim Crockett, All Japan, New Japan. Was a cornball baby face for years until he got booed out of the building. A shit faced Scott Hall somehow talked him into basing a character off of the fucking crow and it made an entire generation of wrestling fans want to be edgy.

Was there for the inception of both TNA and AEW.

earlier this year ahead of the Muta match when Sting was talking about his retirement, he was adamant there wouldn't be a singles match, but here's hoping

 

Sucks that LA Knights push is going to only lead to a match at Blood Money Mania.

 

Idk what constitutes a dream match at this point, but MJF/Omega?

 

this'll be the first Rampage i've watched live and not in person since which ever one had Kingston/Takeshita

I was too young to watch WCW but I really loved the Sting/Samoa Joe/Christian Cage feuds on TNA back when it was on Spike. Sting made everything feel important even if you were watching a wrestling show at 11 at night on a Saturday.

 

I think my favorite part besides just Sting in that compilation is hearing Tony's voice on most of those highlights. Its almost like you can't have one without the other at this point. It just *chef's kiss* perfect.
