Agreed. AEW dropped the ball with him by not giving him a better Solo run. Like the Lucha Bros had a fine tag/trios run but both guys deserved fun singles runs. Penta should have been an upper mid career and held singles gold at least once in AEW. He fell off pretty hard from his great run in Impact.

Also not to keep beating a dead horse but this report makes it sound like Tony did out of pettiness witch really stinks

  5. I know it seems like KO is turning on Cody but what if they’re swerving us into Randy turning on Cody

Smackdown card looks great next week with the triple threat ladder match and the dumpster match. Really glad they’ve been giving Mia, Piper and Chelsea time.

These companies will be the first to release you no questions ask when it’s time for budget cuts, but don’t you dare negotiate a contract for your future!

I truly cannot comprehend defending this. Adding injury time on a contract is so anti-worker, especially in an industry without a union, with no regulations basically, and takes advantage of every wrestler

imagine if a star basketball player who was about to hit free agency was told “well no; you were injured this many games so you have to stay with our team now until that time is made up”

just stupid. Who gives a fuck if it’s in their contract that they can’t negotiate with other companies. Those contracts are anti-worker to begin with and I hope more wrestlers keep breaking them.

“They know the contract they signed” yeah the alternative was to not have a job, truly great industry. Cannot imagine defending these incredibly awful contracts that put billionaire companies first.

Man that three way tag ladder match should be at Bad Blood
Kinda hoping for that. Orton is at his best when heel. So is KO though lol

This is offensive to Gears of War characters. Marcus Fenix didn't fight for this.

Man Hogan is a fucking rat for throwing Ventura under the bus for wanting a union, it’s also wild how Vince brainwashed wrestlers into thinking he had really cared about them when in reality if he couldn’t make money off ya you were a piece of shit

Agreed completely on how f'd the contracts for wrestling are.

That said; maybe dont publicly tell everyone you are leaving several months before your deal is up, and DEFINITELY dont align yourself with Konnan who is going to publicly broadcast it as well.

This thread is like the least tribalistic internet wrestling discussion place

some of yall rock more with wwe

some of yall rock more with aew

some of yall only tune in a few times a year

    it’s all gravy

I think the discussion getting interesting and confrontational is fun sometimes

Agreed and I’m well aware of my inherent biases. In the end it’s all respectful discussion and it’s nice to talk about this stuff without anyone taking it personal. Hell 6 years ago this thread would have been boring/depressing as hell outside of Takeovers lol

I definitely hate when Tony/AEW do stuff that drove me away from WWE in the first place; he's genuinely been good about contracts/releases on the whole (think there's only been like 2-3 people fired in total, and I cant really remember significant injury time being used to keep somebody around before this)

This is also where you negotiate an exit; let him go to WWE and be at the PC but not appear on TV before the day after WM or something. Sorta like they did with Regal.

Loved that they pointed out the hypocrisy that everything Vince claims Turner did to him, he did to the territories a decade prior.

I also think the wrestling business has gained a lot with Vince out of the picture

  23. wrestling is 10000000% better without Vince McMahon

  24. like just on the surface WWE has never been as popular and successful as it is now and that happened shortly after VMK was ousted

  25. and also AEW has a lot to do with it too
