I can see Bucks being babyface for the tourny until the heel turn at the finals against DO.


We don’t need to apply babyface/heel balance for this stuff. Bucks/Kenny have complete creative control and I know they don’t care about conventional story telling/booking.

i’m not saying they won’t go that route but anything is possible.

This works for Mox/Punk too by the way. Clearly Punk is a pretty pure babyface right now, but, its not like Mox flicking him off is a heel turn. He's already cut promos hinting at CM Punk on how he built the company and doesnt want some guy taking his spotlight...which is more face-facing than heel.

Feels like Mox/Hangman would have been similar; let two guys work their characters and let the fans enjoy it without needing the dichotomy.

 

Eddie is a total babyface and he hates everyone on the roster but Mox.

That Drew and KO match was pretty awesome, especially for a televised Raw match

We're about to learn a lot about how much of a reset this really is...because if the payoff for those promos and that match isnt Drew winning one of the belts and a KO/Drew feud on RAW through the fall, then they've basically just reset the timeline back two years and KO is again getting boosted up to be fed to Roman to fill time

G1 semifinals are set and while I haven't really been following it was so damn predictable aside from Tampa Tonga

 

Any chance the Young Bucks bring out Kota Ibushi instead of Kenny? I feel like we're all expecting Kenny, but what if Kota is actually healthy and somehow allowed to leave NJPW to come to AEW? Would be a wild wild pop, but I'm just fantasy booking over here.

 

If I'm booking it. You have the match with Drew and Roman end with KO coming out, pull a swerve where KO helps Drew win, and then reveal on Raw the next day that he did what he had to do to get that belt back, which is exponentially easier if Drew is the champ because that stupid idiot Roman never shows up anymore. (KO is always at his best, IMO, when his character blends his viciousness with high intellect). Everyone basically comes out a winner. You protect Roman a bit, Drew gets another run as champ, KO is elevated to the top tier, and Raw gets a top belt to help further anchor the show

Yeah, they are clearly keeping Roman champ on SD for the Rock match...but I like this iteration for getting Drew the belt.

 

I've never understood why the championship was necessary for that match. It's a spectacle and a family drama story - and this far removed from his last match Rock doesn't need a belt involved to tell a story or draw eyes. Plus, Rock isn't going to win, or if he did, he'll just have to drop it immediately after anyway. So now you've basically stashed the belt away for a couple years, either resulting in Roman carrying it that much longer, or having an underwhelming drop afterwards.
