Meltzer also said that Shane was the lead producer for the Rumble and does have heat. The other guys were probably secondary.

Ah yes, because the Shane feuds did so much to progress KO and The Miz. Seth really needs that rub.

Braun did end up in a WWE championship match immediately after feuding with Shane!

He was fired a month after that… but uh…

Nia Jax on Renee Paquette's podcast today was interesting/enlightening/frustrating. Flat out says she's not going to get vaccinated and mentions a conversation she even had with Vince about it where he essentially told her that it would make it difficult for her to do her job if she doesn't. Talks about the snaffu with Charlotte in the ring, which basically boiled down to Charlotte going into business for herself for a minute (which is obviously something we also heard about Charlotte after the incident with Becky) but that they're still close friends today. Talked about the moment when she broke Becky's nose. A really interesting moment where she talked about two people taking issue with her style in the ring, her style of bumping, etc etc when she was getting one of her first big pushes on the main roster, which lead to a shoot fight moment similar to what happened with Charlotte on a live event and an argument backstage—99% sure it's Sasha and Bayley she's talking about, since they were working against her and Alexa on house shows back around 2017ish.

Maybe some of the most interesting stuff is about her personality being warped by working for WWE and the entire Nia Jax persona, especially being on Total Divas, as well. An interesting tidbit was her discussing these awards she won outside of WWE that she, in theory, can't even claim, because it was Nia Jax who won them and not Lina, and WWE essentially owns those awards, not her.

And, naturally, she talked about WWE calling her up to be part of the Rumble this year.

Basically a semi-fascinating conversation where neither party, Nia nor WWE, come off looking all that great, tbh.

Edit: Of course after writing that entire essay, just saw that CSS posted a ton of the quotes from the podcast I was referencing that I could have just linked to instead lol

Nia Jax on WWE’s changing culture, her release, a Royal Rumble comeback offer, and more

I didn't say it damaged Miz. Only that their feuds with Shane tended to drag too long and didn't do anything for the wrestlers to advance their story/character or set them up for their next feud(s). Obviously not ever feud is going to move them onto bigger or better things, but they always felt like vehicles for showcasing Shane.

Considering Rollins just won by DQ, a likely meaningless feud with Shane would be a step down from feuding for the top championship and/or maineventing WM.

I was really expecting Danhausen to show when the Ass Boys hit the ring at the end of Rampage last week. I really hope their social media feud turns into some on-screen humour soon - but maybe he's not cleared for contact yet and they wouldn't be able to explain away why they'd be chased off by him.

I really , really, really want AEW to take the concept of Aztec Warfare and make their own version, but, short of that, this (mostly) randomly Spotify booked AEW Rumble really makes it clear how much I want AEW to drop the Casino Battle Royale and find a stronger gimmick
