    No Fun. Not Ever.

The guitar intro always used to remind me of the intro to Against Me's "Miami".

Like imagine if he ran with the anti-TK/AEW babyface-ish gimmick instead of the same old shit

Anti-authority figure is a ground breaking idea for a wrestling gimmick.

The AEW fanbase notoriously hates Tony and everything he does, so surely they’ll get behind it.

Who gives a fuck about ground breaking though, what is ever ground breaking in pro wrestling these days? It's all been done.

He's sharply down-spiraling with this current gimmick

Because the idea I HAD, was that he would become a fucking workhorse as well, and just wrestle as much as Danielson as the new champ.

    It would have been huge.

I'm always right with this shit.

When’s the last time an AEW champ that wasn’t in the Elite has come out looking better after being a champ? I’m probably not wording that right

Closing the show with the match & the "wait wut?" reaction from everyone (including the Gunn Boys) is what did it for me. I know AEW puts their stars at the top of the hour instead of the main event, but that had to be the coldest reaction to a title win even for two heels. The Gunns can be annoying enough to get some heat but 2-3 minutes of dead silence from the entire building was so awkward.

MJF isn't good enough in ring to be a workhorse champion

MJF is great on the mic but average in the ring imo.

I guess maybe a better way to word how I feel is I can't imagine MJF being someone who wrestles a lot and wins a lot

I think his gimmick for the most part makes it to where he doesn’t wrestle what a modern fan would call a classic but that match vs Darby a year or so ago was GREAT. Dude can go.

The match last night against Konosuke was great. He can go in the ring.

I will never understand the “MJF is an average wrestler” opinion. The guy has good to great matches almost every time.

I mean Triple H is his favorite wrestler of all time.

The moment to strike on this was also like, 3 months ago. The Gunns had more heat in The Firm, they had a still-active thing with their dad...like, after All Out, had they beaten FTR around Grand Slam, done this mini tease with Billy, and done the title change at Full Gear instead of running back SIOG a third time, people would have been much more excited for The Acclaimed to take the belts back at Holiday Bash or for FTR to step in at Death before Dishonor, etc.

Maybe more classic than them cooling off their champs is them delaying obvious moves by months when plans change. Gunns wrestled like twice on TV between All Out and their title win.

I mean, Moxley both times he accidentally won it...this last run was probably hotter than his original world title run. I dont think Hangman came off looking bad (his stuff with Danielson was great, and even the Cole stuff was fine...and I agree he should have beaten CM Punk to cap it all off)

Would actually have been a good way to run him as a heel/tweener yet also anti-authority/maybe bailing to WWE gimmick...Tony paid him off to come back, but now he has to regularly work (hell, bring back the "title must be defended every 30 days" WWE schtick, and double down on it with eliminator matches too)

yeah I don’t think MJF needs to be a consistent wrestler during his title run, but once a month or something would be fine. Instead of his weekly promos which are starting to blend together I think personally.

Not saying he has to, but us marks would eat it the fuck up if he all of a sudden became a workhorse like Danielson.

The guy has it in him.

His gimmick as a whole now is dry, nothing will revive it, it’s played out.

the elites match last night was boring, Dan

Doing <900k on a show with basically every title defended seems not ideal...
