Day 1 has reportedly been cancelled with no replacement, meaning WWE won't have a PPV from Survivor Series to the Rumble

Went to another Indy show to see my friend wrestle. Unfortunately she got hurt doing a run-in spot and couldn’t compete. The rest of the show was crazy, though. A little more organized than the GCW show but the fans at these things are so wild.

Some other reports are saying gimmick ppvs like Hell in a Cell/Extreme Rules are gone next year

Gimmick PPVs have always been pointless IMO. Gimmicks like HITC and the Elimination Chamber need to be for matches/feuds that truly need them.

Apparently EC is staying, and KOTR will be its own event again. That said, who knows if any of this is true, the sources aren't great

I do like Money In The Bank being it’s own event, but HIAC and TLC can disappear

HIAC can go away but I don't really mind TLC or Extreme Rules because there's variety you can do within those stipulations

MITB being its own event is fine because the nature of the stipulation lends itself to be a yearly thing

I can see HHH wanting to bring KOTR back since he appreciates history

HiaC needs to go as an event. One of the worst mistakes this company has made the last 10 years or whatever was making that a PPV when almost none of the matches in any of the PPV’s under that name required or deserved it.

Tend to feel the same way about Extreme Rules. Not every feud needs to involve extreme rules and shoehorning “extreme” shit in a feud just waters it down. Same feelings for War Games PPV’s. You can just decide “ok whatever is happening every May is a really violent feud that requires a HiaC / ER / War Games setting to solve the stories”.

But I get that I am overthinking this because it’s wrestling

Extreme Rules as a PPV makes sense. As does Elimination Chamber in the build to WM. And MITB, unless they folded it back into the two night WM, can be its own thing.

But TLC/HIAC/any other gimmicked PPV definitely has to go. Much easier to just do those things spontaneously

KOTR being one of the Saudi shows is probably how it should stay. Do KOTR and Crown Jewel and lock them in

If you want KOTR to mean anything it shouldn’t be a Saudi show since those shows are mostly meaningless other than being propaganda.

I always thought the "Big 5" had kind of an -- unintentional -- flow.

King of the Ring after Mania establishes the next big thing. They get set up for SummerSlam, testing the new big champion (crowned at Mania). Survivor Series is about learning to survive as a team, but then at the Rumble, you need to survive alone. And for that sacrifice? You get a shot at Mania.

But as mentioned above, it then turned into "BIG CAGE MATCHES, THE SHOW" then "OOPS ALL SUBMISSION MATCHES" and "I DUNNO CAN CHAIRS BE A MATCH TYPE 2007".

If they want more than 5, Backlash was always a great show as a response to Mania, and No Mercy is a beloved show name by millennials.

I mean, I think the premise that its gonna ever be really good again is flawed...it helped Stone Cold and HHH, and basically everyone since then has either been a flop or already clearly going to be a star.

Its not going to magically make Chad Gable or [insert fan favorite mid-card guy who is only a mid-card guy] a star, but, its a great gimmick for the Saudi show cause between Semis/Finals, you can fill 3 matches and not need to book months of the main show around it. Kinda like when they did the World Cup stuff and it filled most of the card.

KOTR I dislike because whoever has won for the like the last 15+ years changes their gimmick into a heel who literally thinks he’s a king and adds it to his name. It’s just a cliche at this point, which is what a lot of the E is that hopefully Trips can fix in time.

Another issue with KOTR is that it was like, maybe a tournament of 4 people or maybe 8 matches and it just never truly felt like anything. You could have the KOTR get a #1 title shot but that’s basically done better with MITB just without the cash in factor.

Although bringing that into the equation for KOTR could make for some interesting triple threat scenarios or at least some variety for the champion to contend with if you have KOTR who can challenge for a match (let say ahead of time) AND have MITB winner lurking around. Hell, you could even have it where the winner of KOTR and MITB are friends (let’s say New Day) and in the event the KOTR winner loses his title match, the MITB winner is right there to swoop in and win the title if need be.

Considering they’ve given some of the old PPV names to to NXT, I wouldn’t be surprised if they also came back on the main roster now.

Watched this last night, since it's now up on NJPW World.

It's not my MOTY (that's still FTR/Briscoes 1), but it's definitely in the conversation.

Let's get these people moving faster!

Has there been the [insert name] is All Elite post? Otherwise I would only presume it's just a little former-ROH team crossover appearance.
