Shit. They used a lot of top stars for the Dark Elevation taping but that was still a chore to sit through.

This was like Wrestlemania night one. 5 hours long. And a 1:45 min drive back home.

I’m about halfway through Dynamite. What a great episode. The FTW match/Black & Cody/Hangman & Kenny part is such a great run and really shows how much wrestling has missed fans at the shows.

 

I thought Omega would have a longer reign. Feels like there should be a big swerve, but I guess for their biggest show they just do it.

 

longer reign? he won the belt in november. losing at all out would give him a 10 month reign. about the same lengths as jericho and moxley, give or take a month.

last night's dynamite was solid. one of the few times i kick myself for not goin, as i was at the first austin show in... 2019? it'll be great for all brands, but especially aew and wwe to be back in front of a live crowd to actually gauge what is and isn't workin. for example: who the fuck knew ricky starks would be THAT over with the audience? do you keep team taz heel... or have them feud with the pinnacle??

wwe? i'll be at smackdown tomorrow, and money in the bank this sunday, and for all the criticism/meh i've been giving wwe (mostly the raw brand), i'm excited and curious to see what's sticking with fans and what isn't. this it the first exposure minus wrestlemania where we get a heel roman, heel crews, heel otis...

His promo was directly lifted from a promo Cody did a couple of years ago back when he was feuding with Goldust. Basically Black took Cody's own words and twisted them back around on him. Definitely not rambling garbage.

 

Good show last night. I really loved the Black/Cody segment, in particular. They've also got something big brewing with Omega and Page, but I do hope as the match draws closer, they hone in on the two of them and let the peripheral stuff go. Dark Order and the Elite (as they stand) are a little too hokey and goofy to sell a major main event match at your biggest show of the year. Omega and Page are too good not to be left to their own devices to sell the hell out of this thing.

I also realize it's probably a rather unpopular opinion, but Darby Allin is such a turn off to me. I was already sort of "meh" on having him be such a featured player, but the accusations that went largely ignored last year was sort of the final nail for me. Can't deny that he's over, though.

 

A reminder that they really don’t use nyla nearly as much as they should

 

I think the periphery allows them to build the match without doing the WWE thing of having them in 5 different matches together before it. It works well in AEW generally. And the way Kenny loses is by not being able to rely on any of the outside stuff to win.

As much as Cody can be annoying with the time he gives himself, man, the way he writes personal feuds is pretty hard to touch.

 

That's why I'm fine with it happening in these early stages of the program - I just don't want them to use it as a crutch later when it comes time for the two to really start going at it on the mic when we get close. I think the involvement right now makes a ton of sense, but I hope it does just get boiled down to the two of them as we inch closer.

 

Can we get Nyla to give that dude a power bomb to cap off that exchange? Good lord, what a retort.

 

I loved dynamite. By far the most exciting weekly wrasslin show rn.

But am i the only one who didn't see who hangman was pointing at when he said they will get a bltag title match? Uno and Stu or Silver and Reynolds?
