At this point, I don't want a final farewell. Nothing will top him leaving his hat and gear in the ring and raising the fist on the ramp. Just go away.

 

I was in the same boat as you, @bigmike, until the Mania match with Styles. I think that proved that they can do something pretty cool/memorable as his final farewell in the cinematic fashion

 

...until Taker can get another Saudi payday and/or they have a stadium filled for Mania again, of course.

 

But will anything he can do in a cinematic match be better than what he did with Styles? Was the boneyard match great because it was great or was it great because we had low expectations of it? I just don't have an interest in seeing the undertaker in wrestling. I'm 34 now, I don't need to see guys wrestle who i watched wrestle 30 years ago.

 

I think the Boneyard match and Firefly Fun House match were both great precisely because of how different they were than most everything else. Boneyard was the longest match of the night on Night 1, yet it felt way faster than the ladder match and KO/Rollins. Conversely, Bray v Randy in House of Horrors felt endless and pointless despite being shorter than the Boneyard match.

AJ might have been able to drag a great match out of Taker in a normal ring; but it feels like the pandemic made it WAY easier for them.
