AEW seems to be getting the attention they want from the Tyson thing. They're on the front page of ESPN right now. But also, FIGHT PIT RULED

 

Was it a work?? I thought so at first but once he won and showed his teeth they looked broken. Admittedly I don’t know what he normally looks like so maybe they were already broken before?

All the blood definitely made me think back to Roman’s capsule a few years ago though for sure haha

 

Is this Mike Tyson stuff doing anything for anybody? I mean... why?

 

Also... the TNT title looks like a prop where you change the faceplate for different things like “Best ____ ever”

 

Did they really separate Chelsea Green from Robert Stone? Wasn’t that their only gimmick? I hope they don’t pair her with Charlotte

 

I think I liked the Tyson thing because of who was out there with him. And Jericho can make anything good.

caught up on Double or Nothing and Dynamite. LOTS of thoughts
- First off, this was probably my least favorite ppv by far. Not worth the $50. Thought a lot of the matches were really sloppy.
- Casino ladder match rumble was terrible. I hated it. Not the concept, but the way everyone acted in that match, it made my brain hurt. The psychology was terrible and their were so many missed spots/botches. I felt like i was watching a 2012 womens battle royal. Plus, i think it's pretty obvious Luchasaurus is green. He has 2 moves.
- Shawn Spears is certainly trying. It's not the worst.
- Cody winning.... what the hell.

but then the ppv turned aroudn
- I LOVEDDDDDD Shida/Nyla. Great great great match. Don't like the title switch. If Cody's winning, then keep the belt on Nyla. If Archer wins, okay, give us the shocking switch. I dont get why they treat Nyla like this. I think she's great.
- Ambrose/Harper was shockingly pretty good. Although tough to get into as there's no way in fucking hell Moxley was losing this. Hopefully this is the end of the Dark Order. Ever since Brodie joined i've lost interest. It hasn't worked.
- Finally, Stadium Stampede. It made me laugh but i admit, i feel like AEW's been leaning towards the comedy wayyyyyy too much lately. I love a good chuckle, but it's a bit overkill.

Dynamite needs the crowd back and they need to take a deep breath.

 

Comedy is needed for the lack of crowd imo. Work rate matches work best when guys can feed off a hot crowd and they can buy in and be a part show/experience. Not saying everything has to be comedy, but it’s smart to lean more into that in the current situation, same as WWE and the cinematic matches.

Fwiw I don't think anyone will get the traction deserved for fantastic matches in the current environment, so doing stuff like the Stadium Stampede, or Tyson is good to keep publicity up and it seems to be working for AEW at the moment. a Kenny/Okada type match now just wouldn't be worth it.

 

breaking news: Hogan is a sack of shit

 

Legit just watched that PPV like three nights ago because it’s the first one I remember watching live as a kid. My girlfriend the other night asked if the hogan thing was a work or not and I had no idea so fortuitous timing on this story.
