Wrestlemania 30 was one of the two highest rated programs aired on ESPN this past weekend. The reairing averaged about 800,000+ people.

  6. I mean this taped mania isn’t going to make them any money but it might get a wrestler or camera man or production assistant seriously ill or killed

who is clamoring for these taped matches?

  7. Probably a top 5 Mania of all time

Network is free rn with Mania being the big draw. they're one of the only games in town right now in terms of sporting-like TV and it's a comfort food for some out there im sure. getting folks in the door for Mania and hoping they stick around for the catalog while we are all stuck inside is the most opportune revenue stream they're going to have for, like, maybe months.

  12. How many people are gonna stick around to watch 6-8 matches with zero audience - most die hard fans aren’t doing that so why would casuals?

you're failing to provide an alternative better plan. what's the better option for them financially?

If he's not sick his quarantine is probably over. Meltzer specifically says it's why he missed the 3/16 RAW, because he was in South Africa. It seems like he left on 12th or the 13th, so that could be one of the last matches taped

It's gonna be in Blacks backstage room and Lashley is gonna knock is my prediction

  15. There isn’t one - no one is making money during this pandemic so it’s foolish to risk the health of your wrestlers

  16. Also this just proves once again that the universal title is cursed haha

  17. But of course I’m talking about a promoter who kept running a PPV after a man died in the ring sooooo

Its also tailor made for TV airing, actually. The opening match builds to the finale. All the main matches are 15+ minutes, so you can hold an audience for 2-3 segments if they're invested. And each match has at least a loosely familiar face to a more casual audience

WM35 will probably be pretty good too...Rollins out the gate, the Miz/Shane match, and then Kofi and Becky claiming their moments. WM32 by comparison could not be more poorly suited. Best match is right out the gate. LoN v New Day and Brock v Dean is a huge lull, and the Taker/Shane match is either gonna get edited in half or fill like an hour of TV.

To be fair, AEW is still running shows too.

if it’s optional and they are choosing to do it then I can’t blame them. I’m still having to work and I work at a fuckin Best Buy (temporarily, I promise). I’m not saying that because I work everyone else has to but more like I can understand if they choose to. Probably irresponsible but honestly they are probably just trying to control what little aspect they can in these crazy times

  20. I think AEW should postpone shows too - it’s just irresponsible right now

I get it. Hopefully they are all self quarantining when they aren’t at these shows. And keeping shit clean

The thing I cant know for AEW is if their core talent all live near Jacksonville. Like, NXT can theoretically run shows because almost every lives near the PC and a ton of main roster talent live their too. If a bunch of the AEW crew moved to Jacksonville in a similar way (or are say all living there during this), then its not as reckless. Anyone flying in and out though...

Im a little surprised both companies didnt tape a BUNCH of stuff 2 weeks ago when crowds started getting cancelled. Every time you come back to tape, it gets less excusable.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I bet a good amount of people are going to watch. You underestimate how desperate people are for sports/entertainment content right now. Last Sunday 900,000 people tuned in to an eSports iRacing NASCAR event on TV.

I wish they'd stop broadcasting for sure. It's putting people at risk and isn't a good idea, WWE and AEW both. But it's already been taped at this point so they might as well air it.

okay but this loops back to the fact they already did that and already taped it. so the suggestion is to waste the work the wrestlers risked themselves for entirely because the card will be bad.
