Yes, because if there's one thing pro wrestlers are known for, it's their exceedingly fantastic judgement on when to say enough is enough and call it a day

still don't get how that defines "value" for them? it's been well documented that Sting's number one goal with signing with WWE at all has been this match - it was on his mind since day one. he doesn't want one more match, he wants this match.

also dont get how it's worth more to WWE? they tried to milk it already at least once with a viral marketing thing that generated crickets. maybe a What If action figure set that makes 100k in licensing fees? no way that's worth more than a Mania match.

at the end of the day speaking on "what's best" for two people we know little about feels a little weird in any arena. Taker prob needs the money, that's known. Sting probably doesnt based on how he has steered his career in the last decade. Sting has never played out the autograph circuit the way others have and chose to stay in TNA and put a company over when he could've probably made more money on a limited appearance deal with WWE. is it that crazy to think a dude just wants to go out on his own terms?

like i am not as a fan of wrestling dying to see the match, but it's a seven hour show, it needs the attractions, and WAY more fans want to see the match than dont. by an astronomical margin. every person that posts on reddit and message boards could not want to see it and we would still be an overwhelming minority. Mania is there to draw in casuals, they already have us and they know it.

I’ll watch the match if they put it on but I’m not asking for it. With their limited mobility I’d be worried about their safety. We saw what happened with Goldberg/Taker. Granted the concussion but both guys were still gassed and it got dangerous.

If you don't see the inherit value of fans being able to talk for decades to come about a What If matchup between Sting and the Undertaker, two of the greatest talents of their time vs fans getting to actually see a lackluster match between two old, mobility-restricted, past-their-prime performers that leaves fans disappointed and with a sour taste in their mouth, I don't know what to tell you. It's part of how their presence and legend remain in rarified air for years to come. Nobody wants to remember a past-his-prime Patrick Ewing on the Sonics and Magic.

a publicly traded company engaged in a decade long deal with the Saudi regime that still trots out Hogan, and a guy with alimony that has ditched his twenty plus year protection of kayfabe to shill supplements on Instagram dont care about inherent value, they care about value. agree to disagree

I'm not talking about the WWE or these performer's own personal views on where the value lies. I'm talking about what is of more value to the fans, which in turn boosts the legend of these performers. The WWE, Sting, and Undertaker are the last three entities I would expect to see the value in letting the world speculate on that match or wish it had happened for the rest of time, because the WWE model has never been to think more than 2 weeks ahead of any given moment.

  9. Should I watch this week’s AEW?

  10. they are trying to find that right balance I think and they are struggling. there would have been major criticism if Omega/Bucks/Cody were the top of the company with the belts so I think they've overcorrected that to a fault.

  12. yeah it was solid throughout - didn't have the insane highs of NXT but was still a good show with some nice development

I only "argue" with people whose argument I find intriguing. Otherwise I'd just treat your posts like I typically treat Triple P's

NXT has been consistently great for 3 months, it makes sense they took some audience; and the luxury to be able to trot out Balor/Cole and Rhea/Baszler when AEW cant equally trot out Mox/Jericho and has no women on that level makes it tough to match.

Its just a much harder task for AEW because they have to build up new characters without giving away big PPV matches...yet also compete with an NXT that has already brought in a bunch of former stars. And WWE is gonna trot out two major PPVs and two Takeovers and the NXT v UK thing in the time between AEW's PPVs.

If AEW was directly up against SD or RAW, they'd be so much better off...but NXT spent nearly a year stockpiling the kind of talent that lets them be a buzzsaw like this, and that's even while not using a bunch of major indie names

One thing I noticed people in the crowd were pissed about was no Moxley. They were pretty vocal about it and some dude yelled out that he’s in Japan right now. Guess that’s where not having the 100% exclusive contract hurts. Even though WWE has plenty locked up and never use them. But it kinda sucks when one of your top 5 stars or so cant make the show cuz he’s at another promotion (if that is the case)
