Someone went DEEP down the rabbit hole on that one in Reddit, basically imagining AEW as a Chikara-level storyline where they are all tied together.

One of the things I like most about AEW so far is they've actually created factions that make sense. The number of times Joe or Drew or Braun have just been henchman in WWE for no good reason is absurd.

 

i almost feel like all the cultish factions are an attempt at skirting the lines of face and heel dynamics. it's like they want there to be heels, faces, and almost a third side of chaotic neutral. whereas most promotions flirt with antihero archetypes here and there, im hoping AEW are gonna represent that kinda character a lot more, which is risky but could work. for example, i think i could see characters like Dark Order, Butcher/Blade, and even Moxley feud with either The Elite or The Inner Circle without requiring the typically on the nose alignment shifts that ruin most story continuities when say someone like Seth Rollins has to randomly be buddy buddy with the Shield again.

Lol I still have no idea why I'm so heavy on that sub when 80% of what I like in wrestling is despised by most people in there.

Holy shit. This is the type of booking that I want in my wrestling.

 

Its like a crazy mix of LU and Chikara; and honestly kind of believable since they knew they'd get Marty at some point...and they did say they had a whole year of story lines written out.

I absolutely hated the Ethiopia comment, but I was okay with Cornette’s apology and explanation.
I loved the feel of the first 2/3 of the NWA season, so if they can get back to that, I’ll keep watching.

The Young Bucks have said that people can’t go back on stipulations in AEW, and they’ve been truthful and Ernest with everything they’ve said about their show before. I’m interested to see how they handle the Cody title stip in the long run.
