Private Party are killing it. Was an incredibly underrated signing for AEW and they are just so damn fun.
Darby rules. I'm excited for a showcase match against Jericho next week

 

I know full-well Darby ain't winning next week, but Jericho vs. Darby is gonna be sick nonetheless.

 

I saw Private Party wrestle at AJPW and thought their gimmick was so fucking lame when they came out. After a twenty minute match with I think Team Tremendous, I was completely sold. Such a fun tag team. Excited to see them go places.

 

Darby is going to be AEWs Jeff Hardy just without all of the outside the ring stuff

 

lol that was my comparison for him last night before learning he's straight edge.

 

That skateboard spot is one of the cooler things I've seen in wrestling.

 

So this is a really good series they've got going.

 

I like to read old WON's while eating lunch at work sometimes, the site always has an old observer from around the same time of year from years ago. The one they have on the front page right now is from Oct/2002 and the main story is about how the first brand split (it had been going on 6 months so far) has been a disaster and less talent is now over and everything is oversaturated. 17 years later and we are about to do another brand split. Fuck.

 

I think Baker is pretty good but yeah....wasn't her best showing last night.

 

it's less her ring stuff and more of a general lack of presence imo

 

..also: I really liked Hager yesterday. Seemed credible and kinda cool.

I think the brand split is still for the best. We don’t need to see the 6 same guys twice a week. But they need to stick to it and not have this wildcard rule or whatever.

 

It's never worked though. Ever.

 

WWE doesn't realize we do not need to see all the top stars every single week as the main focus of the specific show.

 

It was working pretty well for Smackdown when this most recent brand split first started. At least as far as quality of the show went. Don’t think it did anything for ratings

 

This. It's not like the Bucks are going to get MORE over with the crowd. Selfless move by them to put PP over.

 

I also think the elite all need to kind of put a bunch of people over otherwise complaints would pile up quickly of Kenny and Cody and the bucks just being triple h. Fans will complain about anything (I know I do) so I’d rather they complain about the bucks NOT winning then the bucks winning again.

 

But that’s more because wwe’s Shows are booked terribly and over exposes the top of the card. Brand split that actually features an undercard would work wonderfully. Brand split itself isn’t bad, it’s been executed terribly.

 

Yeah they so obviously are wise to this and it's clearly the right move to make. It's really awesome and refreshing to see the bucks put over Private Party, I had never heard of those dudes before AEW and last night made me a big fan. There still would of been an impact if they lost but it just wouldn't be the same. The crowd loved them too.

It's an incredible sign that talent like Darby and PP are getting over with crowds. My worry always was that the crowd would just be all about Jericho, Bucks, Kenny and Moxley and thats it.

 

Yeah for sure, but are we expecting them to finally get it right this time? Haha

- Private Party's entrance, hah. Weighing in at 24 oz of vodka cranberry whatever. funny. Would love to see them have a 'bouncer', body guard gimmick with them.
- holy SHIT!!!! what a fucking match! im not a work-rate guy, but holy shit there was so much stuff in that i loved. cool.
- Jericho obviously a goat on the mic. "look at how sexy he is". Sold the hell out of his faction.
- Darby. I'm interested. Great call making this match shorter after the barn burner opening.
- Not sold on the womens division yet. Or at least the women i've seen for the most part.
- Love seeing Tully involved. Match wasn't great. Ambrose vs Tye. Not great.
- i like the video packages being shown during entrances...because the themes all blow.
- Fun ending! I lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvved Darby coming in on the skateboard. THAT was fucking rad.

- overall. Good show. Great opening, great ending. My one critique is there are a lot of sorta same characters. A lot of 'dark' characters, not a lot of variety. Also, I'm coming around on the JR hate. He's great when it comes to "yelling at heels when theyre being dicks" but his overall story telling is a little all over the place.

 

If there’s one ex-WWE guy they need, it’s Jim Johnston. Not really but yeah the themes need some work. But goes to show how well everything else is going if that’s the major complaint
