What I read said the $500k was per person. So $1mm for the team.

    And that is per year?

idk how shitty a job is. $500k per year is definitely past the point where I just do it.

    Yes.

So it'd be 500k -35% federal income tax - whatever state tax they claim - travel expenses.

Most wrestlers live in tax free states, which is intentional and also why wwe sucks.

I've always thought the fact main roster wrestlers had to pay for travel sucked

Are their travel expenses at least deductible as a work expense?

I wonder if they get dinged with the same issues NFL players do where they have to pay state taxes to every state they perform in...

Oh fuck yeah. My brother is an independent contractor as a driver and he deducts EVERYTHING

Mick probably knows, I'm surprised no ones doing an article on this kind of thing right now

Wait, what? Why wouldn't they be? I'm not doubting you're right, just genuinely shocked.

I would be shocked if this wasn't the case. And it's not just NFL, it happens to NHL players, NBA players, too. Some cities even have separate tax rates for just athletes. I remember the Detroit Red Wings had an injury crisis hit the team like 10 years ago and they brought up some career minor leaguers essentially and they had to play two games or something in Nashville and it came out that the players would be making scraps for that because Nashville apparently taxes the players at one of the highest rates in the country. Plus they pay Michigan tax because that is their residence. Plus Federal tax. I might be remembering it incorrectly but I'll try to find the article.

They gotta pay for travel and hotel themselves, I know, it's bullshit. It's that indepedent contractor shit.

Oh I know, but most contractors still get to write that stuff off later on as a work expense when filing their taxes. It still fucks 'em, but it's a little less awful.

    Ohhh okay, I misread that.

No worries. I'm just going off my brother's experience so i could be super wrong, but he's a driver as an I.C. and he writes off every toll, every mile he drives, gas, etc so it cushions the blow a little bit.

Didn't find the article I was looking for but Nashville had a Jock Tax they brought in in 2009 and stopped as late as the 2015-16 basketball season. NFL players were exempt but NBA and NHL players in Tennessee were not, so they paid $2,500 per game played there, maximum of three games (so they paid $7500, even if they played more than three games there). Best part was that the 'taxes' didn't go to the state treasury they went to the operators of the hockey and basketball arenas. LOL. Fuckin' government, man.

they could've filled like 2 or 3 weeks of shows with storylines about qualifying instead of just trotting people out at the beginning of raw/sd
