i still feel this could all easily be a work, the consensus seems to be she gets along with peers pretty well backstage. the Travis comments could have been run by her and she could have even run them by Travis. they could all be laughing about it for all we know

true but that was one of her fight opponents that said that, right? with wrestling being collaborative it probably comes from a different headspace. like, i’d be pretty surprised if Becky and Charlotte don’t get along with Ronda, ya know? the reports have all been that Ronda wanted to be the one behind getting the women’s division to the top and Charlotte/Becky wanna get there too. idk i’d be v surprised if it came out after Mania that there was any real heat here

 

Idk, just her saying wrestling is scripted is weird. Obviously every wrestling fan knows that but it just comes off like she's genuinely offended. But yeah, she could just be working it for all I know lol

 

Rousey’a not a good enough actress to pull off a work

 

it’s literally 90% done through a text based medium and the one vlog everyone is going off about doesn’t have a script to trip over. she called the fans “the WWE Universe” in it.

 

Thing is, a worked storyline of "wrestling is fake and Becky's armbar doesnt work...but Im gonna tap out to it anyway in the main event of your biggest show" doesnt read like something Vince or HHH would ever book. It's just not the way they blur kayfabe. And its doubly weird to book while Becky is still selling a Rumble injury 6 weeks later in that same story line.

They also never went down this road with Lesnar when they had many, many chances to. Lesnar v Finn is a far bigger kayfabe reach than Ronda v Charlotte or Becky.

They might lean into this story line now because they have to...but there's no way the plan coming out of the Rumble was for Ronda to call wrestling fake.

 

there is a big assumption here that it’s a work brought through the office, which does not need to be the case. i would imagine they’re not running this twitter stuff by anybody. it can be a work that they cook up themselves. Brock doesn’t use twitter and doesn’t have enough fucks to give to expend any energy outside of his paid appearances, and probably couldn’t care less how the fans view him etc.

i can’t picture this not being a work, i just can’t. 99% of what we see has been a work always outside of injuries. this is the biggest angle in the company. Ronda’s vlog talks about stuff like “this all started at Survivor Series” blah blah. it feels very worked shoot to me.

 

Even if it is a work, it has completely made me not want to see Ronda again. Not in a heel heat way but some legit X-Pac heat. And I was a Ronda supporter and thought you all were crazy for hating her.

Once they acknowledge it on TV I'll believe its a work. They give people a lot of flexibility on Twitter to build matches, but once the match starts its always "Naomi and Mandy have been going at it on Twitter". They didnt acknowledge their twitter back and forth when Ronda turned on Monday.

I find it a lot more believable that someone who's famously brittle got mad than I do that Ric Flair's daughter decided the best story line to work on Twitter was "its all fake". Or that Becky wanted that to be the focus for the end of her nearly year long build to the top.

 

Charlotte has barely been involved with this at all. i also am not sayin that Ronda texted Becky and said “i’m gonna call you Rebeca, k?”, but i do think there is an understanding that they are working each other and having fun with it. mentioning it on TV means literally nothing imo - of course WWE isn’t going to mention tweets that expose the business on TV. they didn’t write them and probably don’t like them. that doesn’t mean they are real. they seem to trust Becky. Ronda is bulletproof. they have the room to run with this that Naomi and Mandy never have come close to having.

idk, this is pro wrestling. this angle will be six months deep by Mania. i doubt it conveniently hit the fan four months in just before Mania. i have a million past examples to make me think this is a work. i have maybe a couple of examples to justfy thinking it’s not.

 

Why would you believe the reports that she was the one behind getting the women’s division to the top but not believe the reports that this is a shoot? Tbh, I could go either way on it but I feel like if you’re going to believe reports one way you should believe reports both ways.

I just want to shake ronda’s hand for getting people to finally come around to the logical side that she’s not that good.

But to be honest, this angle is so bad I kind of like Ronda more now.

 

i haven’t seen a single “report” that this is a shoot, only conjecture from people watching from a distance. not saying it’s not out there, but i haven’t seen it.

eh i get where you’re coming from but there is a scale of bullshit to be had. there’s a difference to me personally between a thirdhand report from Meltzer (stinks) who knows people in Ronda’s camp and such and has heard of her intentions from sources that may have access to that info. it’s nothing i’m going to buy wholesale, but it’s enough for me to allow it to add color to the story. i don’t find it totally baseless.

however, when Miesha Tate is like “yeah she got real upset when she got the shit beat out of her a few years ago, there’s no way she’s up for this twitter stuff”, that’s just whatever to me ya know? such different beasts. we have wrestlers who have very candidly posted pics and anecdotes about Ronda being a positive peer and all that

 

For sure. I don’t necessarily disagree with you. No matter how respected she is in the locker room, though, I’ve heard very few wrestlers say wrestling is fake. Like, Kevin Nash is all that comes to mind and he’s a twitter troll personified. It’s not out of the realm of possibility, but I couldn’t imagine that sitting well/being agreed upon by other wrestlers, particularly ones like Becky who’ve been at this since they were teenagers.

 

i still dont think ronda's the issue for the build here. She's a heel, good, this is what I wanted. It's a bit convoluted and i'm not sure where it's going to go, but i'll still take it. It's creating a monster heel for Becky to overcome.

My issue is the triple threat and them doing a suspsension AND injury angle. It's overkill. PLus, if you're going to do a suspension angle, I would've preferred more clever ways for Becky to get involved.

 

I’ll fully admit to my dislike of Ronda is probably coloring my opinion on this but: I cannot buy someone who does some hip tosses and interesting transitions into submissions who is also not s good actress or good on the mic as a “monster heel” for becky. I find, as a viewer, Charlotte to be a bigger threat then Ronda.

Like, a limited moveset is okay. Brock still comes across as a legit threat despite only doing variations of one move before his finisher, because he has the history in the sport to back it up. Ronda doesn’t so then I just see an athletic wrestler with no real ability to appear threatening in a wrestling capacity. I see a Naomi.

 

the suspension and injury barely worked to begin with but now they definitely don't work because you have the raw women's champion calling it all fake.
