That is the KO/Sami ending, basically.

Thing is, I think Gargano/Ciampa is gonna go on all through 2018. While both would be incredible on the main roster, they are a huge selling point for the NXT tour

 

Then Ciampa vs Gargano is for the belt (which it doesn't need to be) and you need to come up with some excuse to keep Black out of the title picture.

This way, we can have two more MOTY candidates in Ciampa vs Gargano and Black vs Alamas in New Orleans. But Alamas looks stronger than if Ciampa had cost Gargano the match.

 

I can get down with that. Would’ve loved what we just got if gargano had the belt at the top of the ramp, turned to raise it to the crowd. Only thing that would’ve been better imo. You get the big payoff of a gargano moment and you still set up revenge angle.

 

Agreed. Gargano going over, and then the rest plays out exactly how it did with Ciampa's attack while Gargano is clutching the belt is easily the best NXT match in history. But @M.Lee has it exactly right. Doesn't top Bate/Dunne or Sasha/Bayley with how it all played out. Still probably top-5, though.

 

No doubt. But unlike the main roster, I trust NXT to pay this off in a way thats somehow even bigger. If Ciampa was healthier, doing it on the anniversary of Ciampa turning would have been that spot. But as the main event of Takeover: Brooklyn...

 

Match was incredible though. Top 5 in NXT all time for sure.

 

You're right, Ciampa and Gargano doesn't need to be for the belt. But it would be even more epic with it and I think it's a huge missed opportunity.

 

That match was booked exactly like Naito/Okada.

 

On the whole, another TakeOver that knocked it out of the part. I mean, NXT is basically batting 1.000 with these, no? Pretty fucking impressive run.

 

On the one hand I agree. And I think its part of the problem with NXT only having one men's belt.

I think the issue is that while Gargano vs Ciampa is better with the belt; Gargano vs Ciampa in a grudge match and Black vs Almas for the belt is a better combination than Gargano vs Ciampa for the belt and Black vs Almas in a random match. We're losing a bit of awesomeness in one match to get more awesomeness in another.

 

Only thing this event as a whole had going against it was it followed up Takeover: War Games, which might be the greatest PPV NXT has ever put on.

 

Isn’t Ciampa still a few months out from being cleared anyways? I don’t like the ending at all

 

I still think the women's match was not good. You can't sell an arm for ten minutes like it'd just fallen off and pretend you can monkey grip out of an arm bar for another ten minutes. Sometimes BJJ doesn't work in wrestling and this was the perfect example.
