Finally watched Slammiversary. When did Impact start getting good again? I don't think I've seen a PPV as violent since the ECW days. I was also surprised at how much I enjoyed the storytelling and packages behind each match. Made is easy to get into the matches even though I don't watch Impact at all. The Callihan match was absolutely insane. This was very different than anything you'd see in WWE which is why I think I loved every second of it.

 

Caught up on G1. Ibushi continues to be the best. Though I've also really enjoyed Jay White, Suzuki, Tanahashi, Okada, Sanada, Naito, Ishii, Omega... there are a lot of really good wrestlers in this tournament

really the only thing I haven't liked is the Bad Luck Fale/Tama Tonga stuff. It was interesting at first. But now it just feels repetitive and like lazy storytelling. Most of the best matches of the tournament have been great because its just been two talented wrestlers going at it for 20 minutes without worrying about long term storytelling or selling people on some corporate branded character with a limit set of moves that he'll preform for you next time you see him live. And then you've basically got one match a night that is like "these guys care more about beating people up than winning the tournament lol"

 

This is going to be one of the best days of A Block action.

late night baked potato thoughts: im gonna renew my network subscription after 9 months of it being off just so i can watch Samoa Joe vs AJ Styles. Not only am i ready for Joe being champ, Joe and AJ were some of the first wrestlers i watched when i started getting into wrestling because i could only watch TNA at the time

 

Except for anything that involves Elgin. Because fuck that guy

 

If you aren't watching his matches, you are missing out on some really good stuff. He's probably fifth on my list of guys who are having an awesome tournament.
