  4. Yet the movies with the magic glove holding five magic rocks somehow felt five times less dumb than this.

IDK Infinity War seems pretty fucking dumb.

At least there's a challenge in obtaining the Infinity stones and each has their own individual function, vs one magic rock that appears for seemingly no reason other than plot convenience and has the power to grant literally any wish within the first 15-20 minutes of the film haha. Zero build up to it.

Yeah Pedro kills it. Easily the most entertaining aspect of the film. And as goofy as the writing was with his son just magically emerging from the woods, the little emotional moment between a father and son still hit me in the feels heh.

But did his character face any consequences in the end? Idk if I zoned out but I don't think they showed him going to prison or anything

And there are consequences from using them that don’t disappear in the next film.

This was so, so, so bad. Extremely disappointing after how good the first was.

I really enjoyed the original, but oooof this was kind of a huge mess. There were interesting ideas, and at its best I can tell they were going for a throwback to the classic superhero movies of the '70s and '80s... but so much of this felt campy in a bad way, like Tobey's Spider-Man 3 or Batman Forever.

Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig are both great actors, so it's a shame when their characters devolved into painfully generic cliches and their arcs didn't feel earned. I couldn't help but contrast Pedro's subtly emotional performance in the Mandalorian season 2 finale with the climax of this movie, where the script calls for him to basically dial his whole performance to an 11 the entire time and be ridiculously over-the-top.

The script and overall pacing of the movie were just all over the place for me, they could've cut a full half hour and it would've been much better off. I really wanted to like this, and there were things I did like, but there were a ton of flaws that held it way back from being great.

  14. I just finished this for a second time - I watched the first time solo and this time with my family. I think for me this is similar to the Dark Knight Rises - there are definitely flaws with the internal logic, pacing, etc. but god damn if those big “emotional” beats didn’t hit for me. I’m still really surprised that people didn’t have more fun with this.

It's funny you mention The Dark Knight Rises, because that's a movie I was just using as a comparison point to a friend where this movie was trying to do similar things to that one, but fell way short for me. In TDKR, Bruce isn't in costume as Batman for a good portion of the movie, but I found the plot and character development much more compelling than in this, where to me it just feels like it drags in the *long* stretch where there's no scenes of Diana as Wonder Woman.

I'm happy you enjoyed it though, not trying to take that away! I only replied because I do think that movie is an interesting comparison point.

  17. No worries friend! Honestly, I totally respect people not liking this and I really appreciate you having a civilized discussion haha. Not so much on here but it’s brutal out there on the web for this movie!

I'm just flabbergasted they didn't use a single 80s song in the whole movie. it could really have been set in any time period

what a fucking mess lmao. who on earth decided turning Kristen Wiig into a CGI Cheetah and having her do acrobatic fighting with Diana was in any way a good thing to put out into the world

I just paused it and there’s still over 30 minutes left I cannot believe how unbelievably long this movie is :’(

you could legitimately excise the entire Middle East excursion and just massively improve the film

I just read this comment while watching and paused a few minutes later to see where I was at because it felt like “this should be over soon” and had to laugh because I have 30 minutes left and what the hell.
