To expand on what I said...it's cool for us fans to see a bunch of bands back to back to back even if it's short sets, but for the bands what's the point of only playing for 20-30 minutes? Especially since a lot of these acts are not opening acts in their own right. Like, is Car Seat Headrest really down to play for 20-30 minutes? I guess we'll find out.

 

I was able to book a room at the Hilton Embassy Suites right off the strip for a cheap price yesterday. Flights are way too high right now, though. Gonna hold off on that until the summer.

 

One word: money.

 

I mean... they're getting paid. And depending on how much they're getting paid, playing for 20-30 minutes is probably a pretty sweet deal.

I dont know which of these bands are complaining, but I'd guess their gripe may be that they didn't know this was gonna be a "nostalgia" festival, and dont want to be painted as has beens.

Whatever their issue is, they already knew how much they were getting paid for this when they signed on, and I'm sure that deal included the minimum amount of time they're being paid to play for. So the issue isn't money or set length.

 

im sure they are told the money they would get beforehand so if that doesnt change why would they care if they play 15 min less

My perspective on this is different than most of you I think. While a lot of people might come on that Friday and leave that Sunday, I'm going to come in to Vegas for 5 or so days and this will just be one activity I do. $250 a person for 12 hours of entertainment when it costs that much for a ticket to see a 2-3 hour Broadway play isn't outrageous in my opinion. The short set times don't bother me nor do conflicts that will happen. Everyone I'd want to see, I probably have already seen. I'll just make a decision and not worry about missing anything. I think it will be a lot of fun it managed correctly, which is definitely a big if.

Curious about reentry - are you allowed to leave and come back or do you have to stay the full 12 hours?

 

Exactly! Vegas is a destination city. People are flying in from all over the country and paying $300 a ticket for residencies from Adele, Katy Perry, Britney etc. This isn't any different.

I'm sure they'll update their policy once it gets closer to the date and we know what it even looks like at that point. I bet they'll say they require proof of vaccine or something (cuz mask requirements definitely won't fly.)

 

Don't forget the potential merch money involved for bands aswell. Get a limited print design and people will buy it.

 

Seriously every time I look at this lineup I see a new act that I didn't notice before. I'm just now seeing that Kittie is on the lineup....when I was in the 8th grade I covered their song Paperdoll at our middle school talent show. Dont think I've ever heard about them since then. Would be cool to check out their set!

The cheapest tier of tickets definitely will. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing sells out day of sale.

 

100%. With the ability to put so little down, and the HUGE lineup, it's gonna go quick. The only thing that may prove me wrong is the cost, it's outrageous for 1 day (but I'm still getting a ticket so I imagine a lot of people will think the same way and do it anyway despite thinking it's too expensive).

The capacity (from a quick google, could be wrong) is around 80,000. I think it'll sell that many tickets easily.

 

That fixes it.

 

For some context, the Lovers & Friends fest sold out in 5 minutes, they immediately announced the second day, and then that also sold out later in the day.
The internet certainly went nuts over the Lovers & Friends lineup, but the hype for this is on a whole other level.

Festival Simulator, where you can create your own music festival with any bands you want, then walk around in VR. it's impossible because of how crazy music copyright laws are but whatever.

they can use generic looking band members for what you see on the stages
