Such a great record

 

The BTBAM album was solid @Larry David !

I kind of liked that it was 35 minutes long. Some of their albums are a bit long and not so easy to digest.

On a side note, I'm not a huge fan of their setlist for their current tour:

Between the Buried and Me Setlist at The Grand at The Complex, Salt Lake City

Only half a song from their pre-2012 material?! I'm sure that's still a solid 70-75 minutes and I've heard that The Dear Hunter is getting roughly 65 minutes for their set. But still, I'd like to hear at least ONE song off Alaska or Colors, and would it kill them to play all of Obfuscation? it wouldn't

I've actually only seen them live once - and it was at a festival at that:

That was such a weird setlist - 2 songs off Coma Ecliptic, an Alaska track, and a cover song. I know they only had half an hour or so, but it seems like they could've made better use of their time. If you're going to play 4 songs, don't play a cover!!!!!!!!!

Stranger In The Alps is one of my favorite albums of all time

 

Honestly that BTBAM setlist is pretty on par with how they tour for new albums. It’s usually almost all the new material and then like Selkies and White Walls. Also I’d be fine if nothing from Great Misdirect was ever played. That album bores me.

Also @bachna84 Technically the album is 60 something minutes. It got solit into two parts. Part two comes out in June.

@Kennedy if you listen to the new BTBAM I’ll listen to the new Mount Eerie

Bruhhh Disease, Injury, Madness is like a perfect song

 

Like honest Stranger In The Alp is everything I want in an album. It’s flawless. It moves me so much. Ugh, i want to see Phoebe live so bad.

I’ll give it another spin. I just remember being super let down after Colors

 

This makes me think of the band Hundredth. They used to be a metalcore/melodic hardcore band I didnt listen to them but their last album (RARE) was a radical sound change from their first 3 records. Now they are an alternative rock/shoegaze band. Wonder what they play live since the new stuff (even the b-sides from RARE) are so drastically different from the old stuff.

Tbh it reminds me a lot of what Title Fight did with Hyperview, completely changing their sound with absolutely zero warning. But its even more extreme in this case since they went from a metalcore infused melodic hardcore band into a shoegaze-y alt rock band and imo they pulled it off. It's a good album.

 

I reviewed that album in CMCS. ‘Twas good

 

I like it less than Colors, but there is a lot of greatness on there. The only thing I wasn’t hot on was Desert of Song. I haven’t listened to too much BTBAM since that album though

 

BTBAM are definitely an acquired taste, but saying that a BTBAM album bores you?!
