In defense of this terrible and rude post:

    It's hilarious if you've heard Mike's voice.

Gang of Youths > The Hold Steady

its pointless to pit bands against one another like that just wanted to get a rise out of you

It means that not only do you have kind eyes, but also a kind voice.

So it's like jarring. It makes it funny. Juxtaposition is funny.

aw, man. Check it out when you get home! The Auralnauts channel inserted Trump rambling about himself and his policies with a Darth Vader voice overlay, into Vader's conversations from the OT.
Their vids are hit and miss, but the hits are definitely home runs. Here was another one from way back, he sounded just like Tom Hardy

Lunch was great, on to the second half of the album now...

    Way Bakk When
Enough with the typos already! Vocally I could definitely see this as an Alkaline Trio track. Musically, it's a bit different than what Alkaline Trio usually does. This is one of the catchiest choruses on the album to this point. The drumming takes a bit more of a prominent role on this track, especially toward the end. Quite a solid start to my second half listening!

    Krashing
Another beginning that gives off a bit of an 80s vibe, not too unlike I Just Killed to Say I Love You. I think the Alkaline Trio album that this album reminds me the most of is probably Crimson (so it's very unsurprising that @JediMasterKevo182 likes it so much!). I'll also say that I haven't heard the first Matt Skiba and the Sekrets album (Babylon) so I'll have to check that out too. Krashing features yet another catchy chorus. Matt Skiba really knows how to write hooks. On a side note, I'm not trying to constantly compare this album to Alkaline Trio, but it's difficult since that's really the only Matt Skiba music (Blink-182 doesn't count) that I'm familiar with. There are lots of Alkaline Trio songs that these songs remind me of! This chorus reminds me a bit of Alkaline Trio's Time to Waste.

    Hemophiliak
I liked this track, but nothing stood out a whole lot here to differentiate itself from the 7 previous songs. Not a bad track at all, but it didn't quite click with me on first listen. This is one of the slower songs on the album so far also.

    Never Believe
The first track on the back half of this album that is spelled correctly - I'm already in a good mood! At slightly over 4 minutes, this is the longest track on the album. It starts out with some keys and prominent drumming. It's definitely a slower ballad type track. While I didn't find it to be as catchy as other choruses on the album, it's still a solid one. With this and the previous songs being a bit slow, I'm guessing this album ends on a more upbeat note. The lyrics weren't especially deep, but I think they worked pretty well.

    I know you hear me
    Please stop pretending
I don't plan to be long
    I know you hear me
    Please stop pretending
I don't plan to be long
And I'll miss you once I'm gone

    Vienna
Unfortunately fortunately this is not a cover of The Fray's masterpiece from 2005's How to Save a Life (RIP @blakebeats). At barely over 2 minutes it's the shortest track on the album. I was wrong about the album ending on an upbeat note. It's a good track, but I think the sequencing at the end of the album was a bit of a misstep. I would've liked to see these slower tracks dispersed throughout the album a bit more.

    -----------------------------

    Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed this album! It was short and sweet! Things I liked - Matt's vocals, plenty of catchy hooks, the lyrics (for the most part). Things I didn't like - the spelling and the album's sequencing (a very minor complaint).

I'm sure I'll return to this album, but I'm not sure that I'd rank it higher than many Alkaline Trio albums, if I'm being honest. That's not to say that it's a bad album (it's not!) but when I'm in the mood for some Skiba I'm likely to go to one of my favorite Alkaline Trio albums instead.

Favorite tracks - Lonely and Kold, She Wolf, I Just Killed to Say I Love You, Way Bakk When, Krashing

RIYL: Alkaline Trio (particularly the album Crimson)
