That sucks, healthcare should be for everyone and not just for the wealthy.

 

I remember when I lived in Portugal, I had to take my friend to the hospital. They ran all these tests and figured out it was a kidney stone. Anyway, all the tests and everything, we left having to pay like thirty bucks.


In the US, "healthcare" just means insurance and even when your monthly rate is affordable, it costs a lot to see a doctor. When we had our daughter, they wouldn't let us leave the hospital until we paid them $900. That was with Obamacare.

 

I mean, obviously a kid is more expensive than a kidney stone, but can't we work out something better?

 

it's bullshit that they made you pay before you left. but honestly $900 for having a kid is a steal in this country. when my wife had our daughter and our son we met our deductible of $3800 after the anestisia practically.

Not always. Its probably catastrophic insurance, which is really expensive and while it covers everything the deductible being $4k + and even then its not fully covered 100% for a single, healthy young person its hard to choose to buy insurance.
