Ruling Me is fucking amazing. I'm definitely on the "Hurley is pretty good" train


Haven't heard Black yet btw, fixing that in like 30 mins

 

Man, aside from one song I thought was not that great (Where's My Sex), this album kind of rocks ahahah. Maybe I'm just on a huge Weezer kick but it just sounds like them having fun and shooting out some tunes. I'm not sure if the highs match their other highs but man... thought this would be a lot worse than I currently think it is. Red album is actually the only other Weezer album I'd say I'm not too familiar with so I guess that's next. Hurley kinda rocks maybe I'm a silly goose idk

 

I think Where's My Sex, which I think is brought down by very bad and also not good lyrics, the only other track I think on Hurley that would be below what I want it to be is the last track, Time Flies. Which sucks, it always is not very good when something ends really weak, but yeah that just feels like a boring song through and through

Maybe it's me listening at like 6am avoiding work and high on video games and flaming hot nacho Doritos but idk... Hurley was kinda awesome

 

I love the videos to most of weezers songs, and the one for Perfect Situation is kinda funny.

 

Gonna try not to post too much as I listen to my neglected Weezer albums, but I'm two songs into the Red album and I almost feel like the lyrics are a joke designed to put me off the record and if I can just make it through these, the actual lyrics will break through soon

I seriously don't remember what I was on when I first heard these albums but it's quite interesting going back to them as more of a fan/in the wake of a brand new album

 

Everytime we listen to this song, Sting gets a nickel in royalties.

 

Ive gone back as well, to some of them that I skipped/heard the radio hits. If only I were seeing them on tour again.

 

Red is lowkey their worst album. Only good songs are Pork & Beans, Greatest Man and Dreamin

But seriously, I think thats a top 5 Weezer song.

 

I just remembered Death to False Metal exists.

 

“Ruling Me” is a jammmm

 

You skip track 2???? Die, die, you Zombie Bastard.

 

Um, and King...one of the best songs in the band’s catalog.

The Angel and the One is a great closer too.

 

I actually do like it but pre release songs always get the shaft from me right when the album comes out haha

 

We don’t talk about that here

 

Is it that bad? I have never listened to it.

3/4 of which are top tier post-Mal songs. Getting 6 good to great songs off a Weezer album this far into their career is impressive. It continues to baffle me that people write it off

 

I don’t care much for this outside of a few songs. I don’t really think it’s baaad, but there just isn’t much here that i really like

 

I know everyone points to Ruling Me as the standout of that album, but I always preferred Trainwrecks

 

“Put Me Back Together” is underrated.

I even covered it for our Weezer comp we did here on Chorus.

Anyway, that song is in my top 5 fav Nü Weezer songs.

 

Yeah it's great. I also realized recently how much I like I Don't Want To Let You Go

 

I’ve been wanting to make a track list of the best newer Weezer songs so I have a full album that I actually love.
