I like this way more than Feels Like Summer. And am I crazy or can you hear some PATD influence in this?

  2. I watched the video again and now I think I like the song lol. Curious to see how they pull it off live.

  3. Not crazy, pretty sure he mentioned writing with Brendon and touring with them as an influence on the record.

It's a co-write with Pete Wentz, so there's some influence from that scene for sure.

The first leg of the Pixies/Weezer tour wasn’t a stadium tour, right? Did Africa really blow up enough that they can fill stadiums now?

    Things have changed.

    It was amphitheaters.

They played at Deer Creek at Indy and it was pretty damn full.

This song is absolutely incredible and will be in my head until Christmas.

My immediate though (other than ‘holy crap I love this’) is that this is incredibly They Might Be Giants-y. And that’s really good.

The Black Album should be as bizarre as possible. So far, so good.

I feel like Weezer has some TMBG-like qualities, but maybe I just think that because they all seem like dorks lol*

In the larger picture of Weezer’s career, I always found that this was an important note:

While many bands definitely played off the image of ‘we’re nerdy and socially awkward lol aren’t we so charming in spite of it all?’ thereby leveraging that motif into fans, for Rivers and Brian and Pat especially, it isn’t an image. They’re legitimate weirdos who struggle with normal social interactions. It comes across in their music, but it’s real life. Which is why of course people cringe sometimes listening to some of their songs - the people making the music would make you awkwardly cringe in real life too.

And yet, I could not love them more.

I'm just gonna be honest, I was too distracted by the video to pay attention to the song. Yet I have "hasta luego" stuck in my head so mission accomplished?

I am into this. It’s a fun song. Give me more weird Weezer! I actually like the CA Snow song too.

I honestly think the mentality that Weezer has right now, particularly Rivers, at this point in their career is the best and most successful one they can take.

Any band that’s been around as long as them has a hard time staying relevant and being compared with their old work.

I don’t think Weezer will ever release anything remotely as well received as Blue or Pinkerton again. They know that and we know that.

So not taking themselves too seriously, goofing around and acknowledging all that is just a good move.

And then when something as good as the white album comes out, we’re like damn they’ve still got it. But they also release a huge hit of a Toto cover because of twitter. It’s a nice balance lol.

But yeah, idk if any of that made sense. I just think they’re doing a good job with what they’ve got.

It said it was a co-write on Genius when I checked earlier, but it looks like that's gone now.

Goddamn this song is catchy. Video is funny as hell too.

But seriously, what is with Weezer always avoiding NYC? I don't think they played a proper New York City show since 2010. How do you avoid one of the biggest markets on both legs of your tour?

Nyc doesn't have like a 10000 seat venue, we need something bigger than Radio City but smaller than Barclays

Holy shit. A friend of mine from college directed this video. Wild.

Love the video, but jesus christ is this song bad. I'm a huge Weezer apologist and I will never get past "hasta luego adios" and the mariachi-esque horns, it's not a great representation of hispanic music from a white band
