  1. it sounds like all the other pressings of the record - most likely it's from the same plates - it's just 40 bucks because Newbury charges an arm and leg for their color exclusives

I started buying vinyl in 2006, only grabbing my "favorite albums". Flash forward to 2013 I see this album was getting repressed, then it all began...

I know it's borderline blasphemy in this thread, but I just added a CD player to my hi-fi setup. Partly because records are getting so ridiculously pricey, and also because I still own all of my CDs. Definitely going to be more selective of my vinyl buys going forward.

The bargain bin shoved under some fixtures on the floor of the Lakewood Mall Hot Topic was very good to me over the years.

Received a replacement copy for Everything in Transit that I sent back because of non-fill. It's not as bad, but the new one has it as well. The Music on Vinyl release just must be a shit pressing. I sometimes curse the day my anxiety/OCD ridden brain latched onto vinyl.

I'd say roughly 15-20% of new, factory sealed records I receive are blemished in some way. Warping, non-fill, finger prints, scratches, oily/dirty, etc. It's the only media that I have to make an attempt to repair right off the bat to make sure it performs as it should.

I don't really have a need for the book, but its only $20 more for the boxset compared to buying all the albums individually...

    Die rad.

Going to go out on a limb here and guess this isnt a popular opinion, but curious...

Do you prefer an LP or 2xLP? Sometimes I'll talk myself out of a record purchase just to not have to flip the records every so often. I understand that's what to expect with vinyl as I have been a big collector since 2009, but as of lately it just gets annoying. Especially because I WFH and spin records all day instead of streaming. Im getting up every 15 minutes to spin a record. Obviously most 2xLP quality is better, but is it really that noticeable cause the more I think about it the less I care these days?

  19. I'm right there with you. Flipping records in the middle of an album is not my favorite thing. Let alone switching out records in the middle of an album.

Only 2xLP in my collection that's inconvenient to flip is Folie A Deux. It's ~3 songs per side because it's barely over the length of a single record. They had to stretch it out the best they could, which is understandable.

It won’t talk me out of buying a record unless it’s something like the Thursday Full Collapse release, where every two songs you flip. That seems excessive for an album that isn’t even long. Sometimes it’s annoying to get up and flip but it usually doesn’t bother me that much. I do wish someone invented a way to make it automatic because that would be dope.

I prefer single lps and honestly at his point I prefer non-gatefold packaging to save on space. I am perfectly fine with inserts to read. It’s also how I grew up looking at my dad’s records. I appreciate good packaging but I don’t really need it.

My most inconvenient flips at the moment are Alice In Chains Unplugged and The Prodigy Fat of The Land. Especially The Prodigy with some sides only having 2 tracks.

Oh and then I bought one of those 10 inch Vagrant represses of Senses Fail and Saves The Day, immediately regretted it. Both are 2xLP. Come on, just put it on a single album. What's the point?

where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

I got into collecting right when the first 1975 LP came out and that has 4 tracks per side. I learned to just deal with it if I wanted to continue with the hobby.

I'm more bothered by shit pressings in terms of sound quality
