My first records were the 4 different variants of “Listen to Your Friends” by New Found Glory in 2009. Didn’t get anything else until 2013 when I really started collecting.

"Give Up" The Postal Service in 2004. I didn't buy an actual record player for, like, a decade.

My fiancee got me a record player for my birthday in 2020 since I've talked about it forever. She allowed me to hit the ground running with some bangers, too:

    JEW - "Futures"
    AC/DC - "Highway To Hell"
    Beach Boys - "Pet Sounds"
    The 1972 self-titled
    The Beatles' White Album

My first record was ***trigger warning*** Deja Entendu the 2007 repress.

At the time I couldn’t comprehend having a collection or listening to vinyl, I just thought it was a cool way to own my favorite album at the time. I literally just kept it framed and hanging on my bedroom walls of my college houses.

Bought a couple random albums the next couple years and started actively collecting in prob 2011!

Bought Sufjan Steven’s- Illinois after a friend played it for me on vinyl back in like ‘09. Didn’t have a player until a few years after but I remember getting the LP in my hands and being like “oooo I LIKE this” haha

Springsteen’s The River was my first record. I was the arts and entertainment editor for my college newspaper and one of my writers gave it to me as a farewell gift when I graduated.

Didn’t get a player or buy any more records until a year later when I got married and my brother gave us a turntable as a wedding gift. Ended up popping into a bookstore on our honeymoon that had a small selection of records and picked up Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago and Iron & Wine’s The Shepherd’s Dog.

Things…got really out of hand from there.

I’ve only ever owned 4 records, all of which were given to me by the artists, and I’ve never played any of them. Never owned a turntable lol

I started collecting in 2012 when I technically didn't have my own record player. I lived with some friends where my one buddy had one, so I started buying.

First records I remember buying were: Where You Want to Be, Mean Everything to Nothing, Aim & Ignite, Bayside's Self-Titled and Chase This Light.

I feel lucky that most of the LPs back then weren't as hard to find or purchase or weren't as limited.

I didn't get my own record player until 2014, about a year after I moved out of my friend's house. I've had the same one ever since.

Somehow, this makes me think Audioboxer is not happening. I don’t know why I think that though.
